Re: Ideas for Isadora KDE

Hi, just installed mint 9 yesterday, very nicely done, and the KDE desktop 4.4.2 today, and my request would be a KDE 3.5.10 PPA, without official support, replete with dire warnings of incompatibility. Probably getting off-topic here, but could you explain this a little? I hate KDE 4, which seems ...

Re: Ideas for Isadora KDE

http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=52332 Thanks for the link, but I guess I should have been clearer. The word that caught my eye was "incompatibility." Incompatible with what? (I'm assuming "official support" means Mint?) Hi, since KDE 3.5.10 is 'old', it would be unreasonable to assume ...

Re: Strange... Synaptic, and Software Manager stopped

Hi, that happens rarely to me, 3 or 4 times over the years. It was usually a dependency got updated, when installing another app. I would have to manually reinstall all of synaptics dependencies, to fix it. Below are commands from Debian faq, that can be used. (libcairo2, libglade2, and libpango1 wo...

I would be embarrassed to demonstrate the 4.4.2 configuration process to a human, meaningless new...

successful mint4win on HP G60 laptop

Mint 9 is running fast, on the HP G60 laptop, with a pair of 2ghz cores, and a horde of intel chips under the hood, I installed using mint4win.exe There have been no popup messages from the supreme masters, and the interface is very snappy, no hint that it is a form of virtual installation. The a600...

Re: mint 9...worst first impressions yet

Hi, I burned the Mint 9 Gnome live CD earlier tonight, it runs on an HP G60 laptop,
(no heavy testing yet) but on an Athlon 3800 nVidia 6100 desktop, there is only a message
wandering around the screen, saying 'No input found'. The birth pangs are here :)

run live CD = 'Unknown keyword in config file'

Will do. An earlier successful download lulled me into complacency.
The checksum indeed did not match.

solved -just a bogus download

Hi, burned the Mint 9 Gnome iso last night, and it drops, and booting from it leads into a prompt label 'boot', after listing these two lines Unknown keyword in config file Could not find kernel image I burned one in CD in K3b, another in Nero, the sizes and files match. Same result. Also burned the...

[Solved] 'Unknown keyword -it was just a BAD md5

Edit I made another download, it was the exact same size, but the second one had the proper md5 match, and is happily installed in a vista folder via mint4win. cheers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, burned the Mint 9 Gnome iso last nigh...
