Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Ugh I've been trying to find a nice dark theme, with that Mac OS X look.

I usually don't try to rip off themes, but I love the OS X window border...

Anyone have a darker version of the Leopard/Snow Leopard theme?

I've been getting some bad errors when trying to update, and I'm worried that I won't be able to keep my system up to date on security. Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Nice desktops dawgdoc and caffeinegum :P @wqawasmi Looks good to me. I kinda like the transparent terminals also, just found I have to watch what is behind them or they become illegible. Oh yes, the transparent terminal gets real annoying at times. If I plan on doing long work in one, I usually low...

Re: New to Linux, Downloaded Kmymoney, how to install?

The above post basically has it all ready to go. However, just for future reference, when looking for a program to install on Linux Mint, look for the "Binary Packages", and then find the ones with the ".deb" extension. If you find something that is associated with Ubuntu, chances are it would work ...

Re: WINE - Acting very slow, but in Mint only...

Hi Will, Does it actually say WINE 1.2-rc2 in Wine Config - About? I installed the wine 1.2 package from Synaptic. It shows as 1.1.42 and it's wonderfully fast for the couple of programs I use. Just recommending that one if you built yours from the sources. I did look into building mine - in fact I...

Re: I can't open exe files from CD...

I don't fully understand what the problem is, but from what I see you can try the following: Copy and paste the executable to your desktop and run there. or Open a terminal and type the following in: wine /media/DISK1/setup.exe (or where ever your setup.exe is located, I got that dir from your error...

Re: with Mint 9 is not possible to save movies

Well usually what I happen to do in Chromium after I finish watching a movie/listening to a song, I go back and right click on the link, and press "Save Link As", and save it somewhere on my hard drive.

Not sure if it works as smoothly in FF however.

Good Luck!

Re: Having a hard time getting EVE: Tyrannis to work..(Helen

I'm not sure what your problem is, but here's a general tip that usually is the solution for me for most of my "WINE and Game" adventures: Change Compatibility Open up "Configure Wine", in the "Applications" tab - choose "Add Application", navigate to the Eve Online executable and add it, then set i...

Yes! Yes! Yes!

That should shut up all the (bad) arguments about Linux involving "gaming".

[SOLVED]WINE - Acting very slow, but in Mint only...

Well I've been a long time Ubuntu user. I've recently decided to try out Mint (which was a pretty random decision) and realized how much I like it, and I'm probably going to permanently switch. (So much for loyalty) I've been having one problem that I did not receive in any other Linux distribution....
