Re: Laggy windows move since Cinnamon 2.8 / Mint 17.3

@JCruz: right now I have nvidia 352.63. But I was not better with the previous version (340 I think). I didn't try to return to 304. @Hoser Rob: Yes I know. This I why I tried this. Like I said, it seems to help a lot, until I activate the intellihide panel. Right now, I run without intellihide to s...

Re: Laggy windows move since Cinnamon 2.8 / Mint 17.3

@David Black I didn't try a live session. Eventually I will do a fresh install on another hard disk, since the issue seems to be related to nvidia proprietary driver. Also, it seems that restoring Cinnamon to the default settings (right click on the panel...) helps a lot. I have to conduct more test...

Laggy windows move since Cinnamon 2.8 / Mint 17.3

I have an issue since my upgrade to Cinnamon 2.8 (on 17.2 with romeo and still now after a full update to 17.3). All is ok after a fresh cinnamon restart (login or CTRL-ALT-ESC). But after a few minutes/hours of work (e.g. firefox on desktop#1, gedit and nemo on desktop#2), some windows become "hard...

Re: printer notification messages stop working after a while

As a workaround, you can kill the cinnamon-settings-daemon process. A new process will then be launched automatically and that repairs the printer messages.

However, I'm surprised than nobody seems to notice this bug??? I hope for a better solution...

Re: cinnamon/nemo crash after samba umount

OK, I did new tests after a fresh login and now I agree with you. If I change the desktop settings after the crash (switch to off and back on) I get the desktop icons back, the desktop context menu gets available again and the intellide panel shows as expected. I don't know what happened in my first...

Re: cinnamon/nemo crash after samba umount

Anyhow we will make ourselves understandable. 8) BTW: What is your native language? French... All I want is, that you turn it to "off" and immediately back to "on". My guess: The desktop icons will after that reappear and you will be able to open the right click menu on the desktop. I tried this an...

Re: cinnamon/nemo crash after samba umount

I don't repair anything if I switch it to off and back on. Maybe it is my non perfect English, but I don't understand what you say here. This is a setting and by switching it off and on you do not repair anything. Another observation: after the crash, even a right click on the desktop does nothing....

Re: cinnamon/nemo crash after samba umount

The switch is then set to on. I don't repair anything if I switch it to off and back on.
Another observation: after the crash, even a right click on the desktop does nothing. Idem for the Super key.

printer notification messages stop working after a while

I have this issue on Mint 17.2 cinnamon 64 bit (up to date). When you print, you have typically a first notification box followed by another one when the printing is finished. All this works very well but for an unknown reason it stops after a while. Since I have other notifications (dropbox, for ex...

cinnamon/nemo crash after samba umount

I think I have found a bug affecting (at least) mint 17.2 cinnamon 64 bit. Steps to reproduce: 1) Put at least one icon on your desktop if you don't have one. 2) Mount a samba share 3) Unmount it (with the desktop icon, with nemo eject button or...) 4) All desktop icons dissapears. In my case, the p...

If the problem still exist, I suggest to use Compiz in xfce. It was buggy in 12.04 but now it's good.

Re: Disable cinnamon systray "service"?

I had a similar problem with cairo-dock. I use it to completely replace cinnamon panel. All is fine (inlcuding most systray icons) except for the "old systray" (some icons like mintupdate and dropbox go this systray), that is not always present. The key here is that only one "old systray" can exist ...

Re: mint repos not as complete as ubuntu ???

There might be a legal reason why the "third party software, free and commercial" is only displayed by the Ubuntu Software Center on genuine Ubuntu, but not on Mint, even if you have installed the Ubuntu Software Center on Mint: There may be a contract between Ubuntu and the software creators which...

Re: mint repos not as complete as ubuntu ???

After some research, here is what I understand. Ubuntu Software Center (USC) can run in Mint (13 at least) but it will not see more packages than synaptic. On Ubuntu, other packages (external applications, free or not) are listed and installable. So on Mint, it's not as easy as on Ubuntu so get thes...

Re: mint repos not as complete as ubuntu ???

Thank you karichen for these precisions... But there is still an issue, since I have installed "Ubuntu softtware centre" on my mint13 and I don't see from there the missing packages. And If I go to Ubuntu apps directory (https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/precise/master-pdf-editor/) and click ...

mint repos not as complete as ubuntu ???

I dont't know why, but some packages are not listed in synaptic (or ubuntu software-center) on my mint-13-cinnamon. These packages are listed on xubuntu 12.04. For example: "Master PDF editor" or Steam games (and steam itself). I compared the activated repos and the only difference was "independant"...

With Catalyst 12.10 (and probably 12.9), suspend/resume works. At least, on xubuntu 12.04.

Re: suspend/wake on AMD C-50 with fglrx: nearly functional?

I have simplified my trick to have a workable suspend/wake with catalyst. I actually use Xubuntu 12.04. Here we go: Configuration ============ Open a terminal and: sudo VISUAL=/usr/bin/leafpad visudo (replace leafpad by another editor if required) For each user on the laptop, add a line like this (r...

Re: Any news on Cinnamon?

Cinnamon 1.6.1 installed here on maya 64 bit (with nighntly ppa). Cinnamon is my best option with Mint right now, but: 1) Still have memory leaks after few days of use (ram used by cinnamon+xorg increased about 200 Mb even if I closed everything, and it's not finished...). The only applets I use are...
