Re: Wifi not working after upgrade to Mint 21.1
I was hoping updated Kernel would have helped, but no difference

Re: Wifi not working after upgrade to Mint 21.1
See screenshots below. My home network is the one beginning EE-K7. The first screen would indicate that the laptop can see it, but it isn't offering me the option to connect to it.

Re: Wifi not working after upgrade to Mint 21.1
Possibly, I guess. But as I say it was working perfectly well on Mint 19, and I haven't to my knowledge dropped the laptop or anything.

Wifi not working after upgrade to Mint 21.1
Not an enormous deal, since I mainly use ethernet connections, but my wifi option has now disappeared. A bit of googling shows this is not a problem peculiar to me. One user got over it by installing Kernel 5.19, I currently have Kernel 5.15.0-97-generic on my machine. I am not an expert - to put it...

Reboot Required [Solved]
I have recently clean-installed Mint 21.1 Cinnamon, running smoothly enough. However, I don't know if it's my imagination but earlier versions of Mint I've used used to install most new software/updates etc without requiring a reboot. This was something I saw as a real bonus over Windows, which alwa...

Re: Help appreciated - Bulk transfer of files [Solved]
Thanks for all help. I did it longhand(ish) by using ls > print.txt from terminal in the relevant directories, then dropping the output into Libre Office Calc, and tagging whether they were from the Laptop Home Dir or the External Drive Home Dir.

Re: Help appreciated - Bulk transfer of files
Thanks for the suggestions guys - much appreciated. I've not done much in the way of programming/coding, and I do find the file structure set up in Linux a bit daunting. Is it possible to do a command which will remove all the restrictions on all files in a directory and then copy the folder across ...

Re: Help appreciated - Bulk transfer of files [Solved]
I recently upgraded my Mint from 19 to 21. As I always do when upgrading, I do a completely clean install, copying my files to a holding hard disk then copying them back on to the new install. This time round, however, I had a slight problem, where not all files were copied back from the external ha...

Re: Bluetooth dongles
Thanks for the reply. Are you using the term 'adapter' to refer to the onboard kit (which is not present in either of my laptops) or for a dongle (for want of a better term) which goes into a USB port? It is only the latter which my thread is concerned with.

Re: Bluetooth dongles
Thinkpad T430 user here, T430s normally come with bluetooth (my other three have it), but the latest one I got didn't have it. Bought one of these and it worked 'out of the box': https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07YLDVM6B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 That price is reasonab...

As I wrote originally:
I am specifically referring to USB dongles, not cracking open the case and installing a BT module on the board.

Bluetooth dongles
Firstly, if you are of the ''There are no problems with bluetooth dongles in Linux, and you must be doing something stupid'' school of thought, then this thread is not for you, my friend. I have so far wasted money - not much to be fair - buying Bluetooth USB dongles which I was advised would probab...

Re: Bluetooth Lenovo Thinkpad T410
it's strange. After all, Bluetooth is hardly new technology, and mobile phones seem to have no problem. Considering we are told that Android largely piggybacks off Linux, it doesn't make sense to me that Bluetooth is such a hit and miss area on Linux laptops.

Re: Bluetooth Lenovo Thinkpad T410
Usually, yes, they are plug and play. I've used a couple of them in the past. Don't know what brand or who's radio is in them though. Well, I got an unbranded one off eBay and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. It's permanently searching for devices, but seeing none and none see it. It's got a n...

Re: Bluetooth Lenovo Thinkpad T410
There are plenty of cheap usb bluetooth dongles on eBay. Although they call themselves 'For Windows' is this a piece of kit which will just plug and play in a USB port on Mint, like most other USB things eg memory sticks, external drives etc?

Re: Bluetooth Lenovo Thinkpad T410
And another nice thing about the older thinkpads - all the reference manuals are available :D Download: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/63y0535_01.pdf it will tell you exactly how to install, not only the bluetooth adapter but everything else as well. Note this is for th...
