Can Overlay Scrollbars be added to LMDX?

I am planning on converting a netbook to LMDX this weekend. I use the main edition on another rig and love the overlay scrollbars. I was wondering whether there was a way to add overlay scrollbars to Xfce. I think the added screen real estate would do wonders in a netbook. Any help would be greatly ...

Re: [chromium] How to get rid of custom search?

I agree with you on this and while I completely understand the reasoning behind mint doing this, I find it no less annoying to use and that disabling it is not an option (at least not one that is openly discussed here or made easy to do). I love mint, but this is my single biggest issue with it. It ...

Re: [chromium] How to get rid of custom search?

BUMP: has this gone dead or is there literally no alternative to manually setting the search engine in each browser? I'll try to dig into this more as time allows, as this is just frustrating, I don't remember it being so complicated in 9 or my last install of 10, perhaps I'm just missing something...

Re: Cannot Uninstall Opera 11.10

Yeah I'm really liking LM11, but I do have to say that this has been the most problematic LM install I've done to date. Normally they've been rock solid and stable from the get go. This one thus far has been a wee bit more buggy. It's noticeably slicker though.

Re: Cannot Uninstall Opera 11.10

tried it with synaptic turned off and go the first message. yet Opera is still there. No worries. I have another problem with LM11 that it seems a fresh install is the best solution. At least I'll know what to avoid this time. Thanks for all the great help guys, I'm going to reinstall and just side ...

Re: keyring issue linx mint 11 [Solved]

The easiest way is just to ensure that when you set up your first wireless network connection and it asks you for a keyring password to ensure that you set it with a blank password and accept the security warning. That way the system will never ask you for a keyring password. So are you saying that...

no need for the eye roll. Yes tried both apt-get remove opera and apt-get remove --purge opera. in both cases I got a message it was unable to remove the var files. I can get you the exact message if you want.

Cannot Uninstall Opera 11.10

Is Opera integrated into mint for some reason? I ask because I side-loaded Opera 11.11 from a deb package. at the end of the install I got a notice sayingthat an older version of opera was already installed. Originally I had installed Opera from the mint repositories, but decided that I wanted one d...

Re: Unlock Keyring problem on Linux Mint 11

BTW, I also found this post which suggest that the problem that everyone is having is with Seahorse plugins, not with gnome keyrings: this is NOT a lmde bug, but rather a seahorse one as far as i can tell; it's also been described here... https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/...

Unlock Keyring problem on Linux Mint 11

Ever since I installed LM11, every time I start the computer, once the desktop comes up, I get a window asking me to unlock the keyring and enter my keying password. I have been using mint since mint 9 and never had th problem in either mint 9 or mint 10. My account is set to require a password at l...

Re: [chromium] How to get rid of custom search?

Alright figured out how to get stock chrome/chromium. Uninstall it from your machine and side load it directly from google. It will be a clean install without any Mint add-ons. For chrome just go here from your linux machine: http://www.google.chrome/chrome Google will recognize your OS and will dir...

coldkeys wrote:In Chrome go to 'tools' - 'extensions' and then disable/uninstall Mint Search Enhancer :-

Yeah, did that. all that does is remove all the links from the top of the mint search results page, which makes the custom Mint search window even worse. Doing this does not get rid of the mint custom search.

Re: [chromium] How to get rid of custom search?

Right click in the URL bar, press edit search engines then simply add/remove/change the one you want to use. As you said this gives Mint project what it needs to survive, however they won't force you use something you don't want. I'm of the same opinion as the main poster. I tried this method, but ...

HI all: I have a hard drive connected to my router, which is being shared by 3 computers in my house. IN windows setting up the share is easy. On the mac a little more involved. On linux mint. interesting, so there is no boot splash at all any more? That sounds odd.
