Solved ... wrong video drivers were installed with update and computer was in fallback mode , uninstalling drivers solved the problem

this is the first time i have been back on this laptop ... I just found out that i have NO other desktops any more , im not sure which one im stuck with but it's the only one that loads no matter what kind of session i start .... I have a menu at the top that says applications and places and a botto...

can i switch back to previous version of cinnamon? (Solved)
is there any way to switch back to the previous version of cinnamon ? this update ruined it for me , i cant seem to find any controls on it to remove the bottom panel ... can't move the menu to the bottom where i want it .... I can't even figure out why it was put at the top ... i was under the impr...

Let's be real here. Linux Mint 12 pretty much sucks. It's been pretty sucky for me ... slow, buggy , confusing ... but since i installed cinnamon im a lot happier with it ... it's still laggy but i can deal with it . I really like the direction cinnamon is going in , i find it missing a lot of features that i truly want like being able to easily re arrange the icons on the bottom panel .... i can't figure out how to get larger fonts or icons in the menu yet and a few other things but i know clem will get it all ...

yeah thats it , it's just user error , because YOU have never had a problem with the hardware you are using it must be MY error ... the fact that this forum even exists is PROOF that linux doesn't just work , it's a different experience for every person that uses it based on the hardware they have t...

because if you log in with LXDE there is NO brightness controls anywhere in the entire system Guess I'm lucky. from my experience with all the various linux distros, the brightness keys never work...but the brightness setting in the system settings certainly works and very efficiently too...why must you do it with your keys? :wink: :lol: because if you log in with LXDE there is NO brightness controls anywhe...

I discovered that some of the files on the installation media wee corrupted. So... New iso downloaded and burned... Start installation again... It all works... I just wish that I could find where to disable the annoying sounds at logon/logoff. Anyone know? if you just want to disable the login soun...

In reply to the people bashing me for being extremely frustrated about the Distro that i have loved and donated over $1,200 to over the years . while I commend Clem for trying to make Ubuntu more Usable for the average person the fact remains , 12 is a great big mess ( at least for me ) it's buggy, ...

I do and my opinion hasn't changed even the slightest ... the more i use 12 the more i find wrong with it .... which is EXACTLY why i did not try putting Mint on a USB for my friend i tried 4 other distros . i fully believe mint 13 will be better ... but in the mean tim...
