Thanks for the reply.
I think that the problem is that the system partition of 20gb is full.
USR - 8.4gb
LIB - 5.6gb
VAR - 3.3gb
Boot - 1.5gb
LIB has 5,2 gb of kernels
The root partition is /dev/sdb9

19.3 xfce, can’t login
This happened to me when i changed the home directory for my user, and forgot to reassign the privileges to the new dir. Try to log into a terminal (ctrl+alt+F1) with your user and password, so you check that password is correct. After the login (which probably will have no problems), type grep you...

No splash screen during bootup
I have recently installed two versions of 19.1 on two separate machines and neither are displaying a splash screen between grub and login, On the first machine (MATE) the grub menu is displayed intermittently and sometimes displays the mint logo but mostly just a black screen. On the second machine ...

Re: Document Scanner
Sorry this will not help you but this is what I found. The Brother DS-700D is a compact DIN A4 scanner, which is ideal for mobile usage due to its small dimensions. Unfortunately, there is no Linux driver provided for the DS-700D (although there are drivers provided for all the other scanners of the...

Re: Files corrupting upon move to EXT3 drive
On systems with both windows and linux installed I always have a partition formatted as ntfs so that I can save all my data there. This allows me to access any data from both Windows and Linux. It also makes backing up easier as there is only one data source.

What format drives are the files on now? Linux can read ntfs formatted drives.

Re: Unable to boot Windows 7 after mint 17.1 installation
Are you able to boot into anything at present? Also what is on your second drive? Windows should always be installed first and then linux after. By putting Mint on sda1 you probably need to restore the Windows 7 master boot record. What I would do is firstly remove the sda1 partition using gparted o...

Re: Mint 17.1 XFCE won't burn to USB DVD
I think you will find that -r or -rw are the problem, but I am not sure why. Several of my customers have had the same problem with - dvds but changing to + has solved the problem. Perhaps this link may explain a bit better.

Re: Mint 17.1 XFCE won't burn to USB DVD
In my experience Brasero has always caused problems and I have stuck to K3B. However the discs that always work for me are DVD+R or DVD+RW, what discs are you using.

Re: Printing from Windows
You say: My printer is connected to my Linux desktop and I have printer sharing on. Do you mean it is a true network printer or is it a usb printer setup for print sharing.
