Re: Linux Mint Forums Back After Double Attack
A few years ago I saw a 'man on the street interview' article; over half the people asked would trade their work password for a chocolate bar. . I don't know that I'd have expected those results, but I am not greatly surprised. People in my country (United States) have been trading privacy an...

Changing forum password
How do I change my password when the forum software says my OLD password is not good enough?
And then rejects my attempt to change to a new one.
It’s a forum, not a banking site, why would I have had a super password?
I use different strength passwords for different levels of needed security.

Re: The End of Mint Fluxbox?
People keep saying that the dev team is busy with the main edition and will get to Fluxbox later, but the dev team is always going to be too busy with the main edition. Kendall has not visited the forum since mid December or posted on the forum since September. May as well accept that Mint Fluxbox i...

Re: [SOLVED]How to change/revert to previous kernels?
I bought a small Shop-vac just for cleaning computers.
I have found that the canned compressed air will push the dust deeper into crevices in the computer.
I was cleaning a friends computer and the dust was being pushed into the fins of the heat sink.
Better to pull it out than pack it in.

If you read the official Ubuntu page you will see that LTS releases will still be released every 2 years. "A new LTS version is released every 2 years. In previous releases, a Long Term Support (LTS) version had 3 years support on Ubuntu (Desktop) and 5 years on Ubuntu Server. Starting with Ubu...

Re: [SOLVED]Any way to "sidegrade" to Mint Debian?
As for sources of packages for Debian there is a very large list here; http://sites.google.com/site/mydebiansourceslist You do need to be aware that some packages pull in enormous amounts of dependencies, and KDE programs are among those (but if you are running KDE then Gnome would be like that too)...

Re: LMDE xfce software list
Another way;
This will make a text file listing all the packages currently installed.
This also works on live CD 's or DVD 's but of course you need to move the file to another device.
Code: Select all
dpkg --get-selections >whatever-you-want-to-call-it

You might also try refractasnapshot and refractainstaller they are made for copying an installed system for reinstall.
Do note that it copies everything including files.

Re: systemd (re)entered testing today! Should Mint adopt it?
And I think 45 seconds is too long, but I still have a few things to improve yet. I know people who have Windows and expect boot times around 8 minutes. Debian HAD a reputation for slow booting until Squeeze when they introduced concurrent boot. Any distro that takes over a minute to boot I would re...

Funny that Mozilla is saying that they will support 3.6 only for a short while, as it is a long term support version.

Re: Setting Up Partitions In GParted Mint/Debian?
If I read what you are trying to do correctly you are trying to install Linux Mint Debian into 150 megabytes of disk space.
You might get Puppy Linux to fit in that small of a partition but the LMDE ISO is over 1200 megabytes and it is compressed.
No way will that work.
Also swap should be sda3.

Re: Two freezes|crashes in a day
Versions of Firefox higher than 3.6 hang badly.
The higher number versions if anything are worse.
It is the number one problem reported to Firefox.
I have tried every version from 4.0 to 7.0 and only downgrading to 3.6 solved the problem.

Re: I want to downgrade to firefox 3.6.22, Mint11. How to do
For me every version of Firefox since 4.0 through 7.0 has frozen my desktop completely on images over 200 kb and increasingly at random. Even the clock stops. I have cleaned the cache and only 3 pages later it froze again. I installed Swiftfox which is based on Firefox 3.6 and have had NO freezes no...
