Re: Intermittent internet on Ubuntu 12.04, continuous on Win
PROBLEM SOLVED: The error is becuase of the changes done in Ubuntu 12.04 http://www.stgraber.org/2012/02/24/dns-in-ubuntu-12-04/ "Using dnsmasq as local resolver by default on desktop installations" AS usual Ubuntu folks have brought out a feature that has broke the functionality: https://...

Re: Intermittent internet on Ubuntu 12.04, continuous on Win
No. But isnt wicd for wifi etc? I hadn't had problem with nm-applet till now. I hope after installing wicd I don't get ethernet problems ... [EDIT] ok so I have nearly got to the bottom of this problem - looks like some DNS server issue with my ISP. When I was not able to open any site I tried pingi...

Intermittent internet on Ubuntu 12.04, continuous on Windows
Yes. I was using Ubuntu 11.10 till one week back. No issues at all. However, last week I made a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 The strange problem is that I am able to connect to internet most of the times, however, sometimes I am not able to open any page. I thought the problem is with my ISP, howev...

Re: Rhythmbox
The problem is not that. The problem is that Rhythmbox does not retain the database it created for external disc - when the external disc was plugged in last time. I believe its a total non-intuitive behaviour or rhythmbox. But then so are a lot of other linux features ... Good thing is that there a...

Re: Rhythmbox
Ok since no one knows the answer to this:
I haven't found the answer but I have found Quod libet - a player which behaves just like Rhythmbox, albeit faster with database, and the database that stays!

Re: Rhythmbox
Just to elaborate further, I don't get this same problem with Exaile or Clementine. (i.e. they maintain their database and song lists)

Re: Rhythmbox
BUMP for a rhythmbox problem. I run Mint 9 on my PC. I have an external IOMEGA drive, which I connect to the PC. The problem is that whenever I open the rhythmbox, it always starts scanning the IOMEGA drive afresh . This is painful, because I cannot keep my PC on all the time, and neither can I keep...

Re: Firefox 3.6.17 & Adobe Reader 1o Flash-plugin ? ...
What is the issue with the Adobe Flash? I am running the Mint9 main (No video card). Up to date with all level2 updates. Earlier the flash videos in (youtube) used to run fine. Off late (I guess few weeks back) - the flash plugin has started crashing and consuming large RAM. Page becomes unresponsiv...

Re: What music player do you use on linux?
Audacious, because it has a very good equalizer. Yep, the equalizer is pretty sweet compared to others I have seen on Linux. Too bad you can't save equalizer presets. And it has highly advanced audio plugins which I don't think are available on other players. :P Yeah! why is audacious 1.4 not visib...

Re: Not able to copy paste files from my Canon camera SX210I
Ok strange things now.
Right now my camera has only 2-3 images. No problem copying it.
Looks like whenever there are more pix (say 100-200) then things get screwed up ... any idea why this would happen?
Anyone with a Canon Powershot here?

why is audacious 1.4 not visible on repositories?
No other player comes close to the speed and ease of audacious.

Not able to copy paste files from my Canon camera SX210IS
The camera is mounted automatically by Mint9. Shows up well in lsusb. I can move in and see the files also in the camera. However, when I try to copy paste the same file to say desktop, or any other folder in PC, it fails. I installed F-spot as well as Shotwell. So when I plugged in my cam - it open...

Re: Opera install altered on Mint, official response from Op
All that is fine, when are they going to come up with a rendering engine that RENDERS the pages on the web, rather than giving a jumbled layout etc, and cribbing about ppl not making webpages according to standards.
How come other browsers don't have this problem?
