Re: backup using rdiff-backup
Use the --force option at the first run. That will create the correct folder structure. Look at the man-page (http://linux.die.net/man/1/rdiff-backup) for correct use.

For now I restored the partition with Clonezilla, there must be something in that pack that is messing with the video that should be ignored? My specs are in my sig. Re: Automated backups in LMDE
I've been using http://www.nongnu.org/rdiff-backup/ for years. It offers mirroring and incremental backups. With a cron-job it is 100% automated.

Then I don't know... Make sure that the files and directories you are trying to share have the correct permissions (readable).

You have a space in the media_dir path.
It should be "media_dir=/home/statik/Public"

Re: LMDE a sleeping distro?
I'm getting tired of all the wining in this thread. Clem has said that LMDE will be updated when Gnome 3.2 is reasonable stable in testing.
3.2 has been in Sid for a couple of weeks now and seems stable there. It will probably appear in Testing shortly.

Re: Gnome-terminal true transparency
I believe you have to use compositing. If you're not using Compiz you can enable compositing in metacity.
Start gconf-editor > apps > metacity > general > check compositing_manager.
This worked for me.

Re: LMDE hangs at shutdown/reboot
I wish I could help you. It's a very annoying problem.
The workaround for me is to manually unmount the NFS shares before reboot/shutdown, or to disable network manager and use the interfaces file instead.
I would like to report it as a bug, but I don't know which package is causing the problem.

UNCLAIMED . . sounds like it's deactivated to me . . Re: Torrent: Can I Help?
The easiest is to download the iso from http or ftp, then download and start the torrent. Point the torrent download to the directory where you downloaded the iso. The torrent program will the verify and start seeding.

Re: Status Report on Update Pack 3
I am curious about this as well. Update pack 3 has been in 'incoming' for over 2 weeks now, and I would have expected it to show up in 'latest' by now.
My guess is that there is a show stopper in UP3 and that it won't be released.
