Re: Steam games won't launch
My recommendation would be 2) Remove Proton, SteamLinux, Soldire, etc. in SteamLibrary>/steamapps/common Shouldn't the Steam software do that by itself? Know exactly what makes and brakes a game from working and take care of it out of the box automatically? If they have the team for it and are char...

Re: NO option to upgrade to 20.1
@Aguy namedTee,
Can you please edit the subject of the original title of the post and add a [SOLVED] before it, i.e.
[SOLVED] NO option to upgrade to 20.1
So anyone with the same problem can quickly know there is a solution to that problem here?
Thanks and I'm glad you managed to solve it.
Cheers!

Re: webapp-manager opens but does nothing on Mint20.1
OK, done, solved! I've deleted all the other Firefox profiles and set my own as the default one. The trash is clean. And since I have a copy of the ESR shortcut named just Firefox, the webapp-manager is also working fine. I'm editing the original post on the top to add a TLDR solution and marking th...

Re: webapp-manager opens but does nothing on Mint20.1
For what I've understood, each web app has its own separate profile. This can be interesting if you have multiple apps from multiple accounts opened, so accounts will not see each other. These profiles are being created inside /home/bruno/.local/share/ice/firefox. If you mess up with the shortcuts a...

Re: webapp-manager opens but does nothing on Mint20
Hi RIH, Your piece of information was vital to get it almost working. Many thanks! Yes it was due to removing the original Firefox. I've tried it and it solved the problem. Meanwhile, there are still some problems and I'm trying new solutions and approaches. In order not to duplicate everything, I'm...

Re: webapp-manager opens but does nothing on Mint20.1
Yes, installing the regular Firefox makes it work. Many thanks to @RIH on the OP. But somethings still need trimming. I've got a defective new Firefox installation, and I think it might be related with the usrmerge thing, my guess. Both Synaptic and apt gave me this error: (translated because I'm us...

Re: Steam games won't launch
The very thing happened to me while trying to play The Stanley Parable Demo on Steam. In fact, I was never able to get anything running on Steam (Doom 2016, Doom Eternal (both torrents) and The Stanley Parable Demo, downloaded through Steam). Gave it up! Specially for The Stanley Parable Demo (I got...

Can WINE / PlayOnLinux reach the internet?
I've tried to install DooM Eternal and I've managed to make it install and start after a messy set of trial and error. But then the game says it cannot reach Bethesda online for the creation account. Firewalls and such were turned off for testing purposes, with no results. So my question is, can WIN...

[SOLVED] webapp-manager opens but does nothing on Mint20.1
Hi all! This is a sort of BUMP from: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=331822 because the same behavior remains after upgrading to Mint 20.1. I'd really like to test and use this feature, it seems an answer from my needs, but it's not working... :| Any help, please? Many thanks! ...

Re: NO option to upgrade to 20.1
What repos are you using? Some repos might need a couple of days top max to sync. Or, with everyone trying to suck the data out of them, they might get overwhelmed. Have you tried to change your repos back to the default ones, or after this time of wait, tried again to check if your repos are alread...

Re: [SOLVED] Contradicting versions of youtube-dl on my system
Hi again! Nevermind the thingy with Python, it was easy enough to find the solution through Google. Thanks for the hints on the downloads destination folder. This current machine only has NVME, so no other chance for now, in time I'll buy a bulky cheap M.2 just for storage. And I create the folders ...

[SOLVED] Contradicting versions of youtube-dl on my system
Thanks for your reply, all41! I've done what you've recommended and it seemed to be installed, but when I tried to run it (with my user or under root) or update it I got this error: /usr/bin/env: «python»: No such file or directory Googled around and manage to fix it with sudo apt install python-is-...

[SOLVED] Contradicting versions of youtube-dl on my system
I'm having weird contradicting versions youtube-dl on my system. It installs version 2020.12.9, but when I ask for its version it states 2020.11.01.1. Note: I'm using pip3 to install it. From the apt repos, I get version 2020.03.24-1, quite old. It seems YouTube has made some changes, from what I've...

Re: Can Mint 20 control the battery charging threshold?
Try to set supervisor password in UEFI. Maybe then you will have more options available. That's how I managed to disable Secure Boot. Regardless, disabling UEFI is out of reach. I hate UEFI as it makes no sense to me having a separate partition to hold the keys, that should be done on the hardware....

Re: Can Mint 20 control the battery charging threshold?
Hi Jože, and thanks for your reply! Well, it seems I'm left to die in the water regarding this one. My BIOS is quite simple and offers no control over this. In fact, it's so simple I cannot even disable UEFI and it's not even obvious on how to disable Secure Boot. I don't think I have any Windows so...

Re: Can Mint 20 control the battery charging threshold?
That's very outdated battery thinking. Modern battery chemistry isn't hampered by such quirks that plagued older battery technologies. I partly agree, yet they are not immortal and will live longer if managed to be cooled and maintained around ~40 - ~80% charge, I believe. It's just plain Physics a...

Can Mint 20 control the battery charging threshold?
Hi! I've got a new AMD Ryzen 5 laptop and Mint runs smooth on it, I'm very pleased. Since the battery is not removable, I'd like to manage it's charging in order to maximize it's life. I use this laptop as a desktop, being constantly plugged to the wall and having it's battery always charged at 100%...

Re: How to verify same data exists on two drives?
There are programs if you want to locate duplicates on a drive. I've tested these 3 in the past, and I liked Fslint, but it had problems and is no longer available. Fdupes – For limited number of dupes Fslint - Utility collection. Duplicate files… rdfind - Can automatically delete many dups Now, I ...

Thanks for the little but useful script, @Welcome! One of them has everything the other one has plus some extra files and I want to know the result o...
