Re: LM 21.2 hibernated to swapfile does not restore hibernated session

Glad you made it, @Mintrider.

Can you please edit the topic's subject and add [Solved] before it? This way when folks also having this problem read the topic list they can know this one is a practical one with a valid solution.

Thanks and cheers.

As far as I remember hibernation as even been disabled by default on Mint. There's a discussion about it here:

Re: LM 21.2 hibernated to swapfile does not restore hibernated session

uswusp is deprecated and AFAIK not available in Ubuntu repos for Jammy, hence Linux Mint 21.x. systemd is "in charge" now. Good point, and you make sense. I have uswsusp installed on my Mint 21.3 because it must have been inherited from a Mint 20 upgrade. Synaptic does not give me an opti...

Re: LM 21.2 hibernated to swapfile does not restore hibernated session

Hi Mintrider, I might be missing some context here, but since you claim you can boot into that Mint installation, I assume you don't need to chroot into it, you can do just the normal sudo or open folder on nemo or caja as administrator and then open and edit the files you need. chroot is meant (if ...

Re: Can't drag and drop files into open applications on Cinnamon's panel

You can still install MATE (or even KDE, but haven't tried it) on newer LMDE versions. I think MATE will work perfectly, but with KDE some things might miss because Mint hasn't been written in a way to integrate it quite well from base. Cinnamon on LMDE2 was the best ergonomical version, IMO. Nemo c...

Re: Can't drag and drop files into open applications on Cinnamon's panel

Thanks for chiming in anyway. I'm using the panel in the old traditional way. Haven't tried it on a live session but I'm sure it works properly. Like i wrote, this is an old install that has been heavily pummeled, trimmed down, customized and upgraded for years and years now and has been restored an...

Re: Is there a way to open the terminal full screen from nemo?

Bruno If inside the terminal I select Edit then Preferences then select the current profile and change the "Initial terminal size" (columns, rows) to something approaching full-screen; then the terminal button in Nemo opens the terminal in that size. Might be easiest way to get close to f...

Re: Is there a way to open the terminal full screen from nemo?

Thanks for replying, guys. @billyswong I know, thanks. But most of the time I use this button on nemo because it opens the terminal on the present work directory so I don't have to navigate there. @motoryzen, thanks for pointing me to xdotool and giving me examples. I'll have to study it because I'v...

Can't drag and drop files into open applications on Cinnamon's panel

Hi all, I can't drag and drop files into open applications on Cinnamon's panel. I'm on Mint 21.3. If, for example, I click and drag a file from the desktop into an (open in the background) program's icon on the panel, it just does nothing. The expected behavior would be opening the application that ...

Re: Need help to create a recovery USB stick with grml

I'd say you should use Ventoy instead. It's a little goofy to install, but once set up a breeze to use and/or modify. No mucking around with Grub. Just copy new ISOs to the data partition, which is scanned at boot. Thanks for your hint, @linux-rox. Can't have it any easier than having the data part...

Re: Need help to create a recovery USB stick with grml

OK, progress so far: I wasn't being able to use grml2usb because, for what I've experienced, it can only work with grml's own ISOs on a USB stick. When I tried with some other ISOs it will give some weird errors and abort (and this was the wall I was constantly hitting my head on). I've managed to i...

Thanks for replying, @mikeflan. And thanks for that link, it might eventually be useful. I'll read it properly later. I'm having a hard time putting your whole description together. Need help to create a recovery USB stick with grml

Hi guys! I want to create a recovery USB stick that can use grml to boot from multiple ISO files. I want to boot from the USB stick, not from the HD, on a PC with or without any OS, so I can install one. I want to throw in the new Mint ISOs into the /grub/grml folder as they become available. Since ...

Re: Need advice on a new inkjet printer well supported under Linux

Hi @warriorofthelight, and thank you so much for sharing your practical everyday use experience. This is exactly the kind of advice I needed. From what you've wrote I feel that I'll be basically OK with every standard printer that supports IPP. That's very well done indeed and that's what Linux need...

Re: Need advice on a new inkjet printer well supported under Linux

Thanks for your comments, guys. I'm still in the process of choosing a printer and doing it online is not so straight forward because the store from where I think I'll buy it has the information presented not in a coherent way, i.e. while browsing different models it's hard to find if a printer has ...

Re: [SOLVED] Peerguardian is blocking everything (plus, how to add Peerguardian's filters to Deluge)

Well, the problem returned and I was able to pinpoint a solution, so why not share it here? Also, this forum can act as a good notebook for solutions and procedures. I keep them in a Recovery/Procedures folder, and sometimes bookmarked on the browser, but what if I'm away and have a similar problem?...

Re: [SOLVED] Peerguardian is blocking everything (plus, how to add Peerguardian's filters to Deluge)

Just adding a little shared note to self that might be useful in the case where, like it happened to me, pglcmd refuses to start.
The solution is simple (if this is the problem): /var/log is full. Just get some free space there and it should be starting now.

Re: Need advice on a new inkjet printer well supported under Linux

I do have an old epson, but used it so infrequently that the nozzles dried and clogged up. Is that an issue for you? Pretty much any printer you buy today should be 'driverless' so that should not be an issue. Scanning I'll leave for someone else. Thanks for replying, AndyMH. Yes, clogged nozzles m...
