Re: Thunderbird update issue

Apologies, but I am not able to help you further. I just updated Nightly 13 and earlybird 12 on my LMDE machine, using those very steps.

Re: need to install LMDE

Hi poision. I'm not Lippy, but maybe I can give you some helpful insight. What is differnce between LMDE and regular mint release except from debian base and ubuntu based? For the average user, that is about the only real difference. Yes, there are lots of diffferences under the hood, but for the av...

Re: Thunderbird update issue

That's bad news  If you want to apply the update manually, it is actually quite simple. I've been running Nightly builds of Firefox and Earlybird in LMDE, since I installed it. Which means I am updating both applications, each and ever morning. Download the .tar.bz2 file for whatever build y...

Re: Which version of Mint are forum users using, and why?

LMDE on one desktop Mint 12 Cinnamon on two other desktops Mint 12 Cinnamon on my laptop I initially installed Mint 12 on one desktop to get a sense of what the GNOME Shell is like. I figured I may as well get acclimated to it, because I'll be seeing it in LMDE before long. After discovering Cinnamo...

Re: Good bye Mint

I went back and reviewed your prior posts and all I can say is goodbye and enjoy PCLOS its a fine distro. I would also suggest you temper your posts a bit over there or you will find that the PCLOS community and Moderators are not as tolerant as the crew is over here. Enjoy +1 All I'm left wonderin...

Re: Dual boot woes

Silvius, using EasyBCD takes all the problems out of the way for you. I've used this method on a couple dozen installs and it has yet to fail me. This sounds like a lot of steps, but take each step, one after another, from top to bottom and you'll get Mint running in no time. Is /dev/sda4 the partit...

Re: newer firefox?

I've been running the Mozilla Nightly builds of Firefox for months and found a simple way to make everything work, without having to use CLI for anything. it will also leave the old Firefox install in place, just in case something goes wrong. I don't use any add-ons or extensions with Firefox, so I ...

Re: monitor goes black after updates

Wow, after installing today's updates, I'm now having the same issue. My monitor would go dark for a couple seconds, every 12 seconds. I tried wille42's suggestion below - Change your Mirror for updates you might want to do sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade And now the timing has changed. ...

Re: LMDE Makes Me Happy!

A thread like this one is pretty exciting. Seeing three new members posting about how pleased they are with LMDE is good stuff. Welcome to New Disciple, ccroom and Hillbilly. I'm happy you've found LMDE to be as good as it is. I'm running the 64 bit version on this machine and the 32 bit version on ...

Re: Iceweasel 4 Beta 8

A quick recap of the errors that synaptic gives when I try to update Iceweasel to the last beta from the mozilla debian repo: xulrunner 2.0 b7-2 wont' update to b8-1 because synaptic won't install: - libmozjs4d 2.0 b8-1: in theory this is marked as upgradeable in synaptic but when I try to update i...

Re: Firefox 4 Beta

Anyone got any updates on this? I've installed LMDE 64 bit and inserted - deb http://mozilla.debian.net/packages/ ./ - into my sources list. When I refresh the Update Manager, I get this error - W: GPG error: http://mozilla.debian.net ./ Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because...

Re: Kernel upgrade

I've tried on two occasions to install the Liquorix kernel. Everything seems to go well with everything, but it refuses to 'see' my wired Internet connection. I've checked Network Settings against what I see when running the 2.6.35.2 kernel and everything looks the same, but I'm obviously missing so...

Re: Poll: Who wants a 64-bit version of Linux Mint Debian?

I will be happy to switch a couple of machines over to 64 bit LMDE when it becomes available. Until then, both machines are zipping right along on Mint 9, so it's not as if I am missing out on the goodness of Mint while i wait.

Re: uninstall the mint... bla bla

If LMDE was the same as Debian it wouldn't need to exist. Exactly. if LMDE was the same as Debian, it would be... wait for it... Debian. I have no problem with anyone who doesn't enjoy LMDE. We all have different needs and wants, so we're not all going to enjoy using the same distro. But, and corre...

Re: LMDE is not a beginners distro RUBISH, absolute piffle

It is amazing how simplified some Linux distros have become. Particularly Mint and LMDE. But when I mention using Linux to people, they back away in fear. They have the perception using Linux is somehow difficult, when it's actually the opposite. At one point, a few months back, I decided I wanted t...

I get the impression he isn't running Debian because he wants to visit here and complain about LMDE being LMDE and not Debian.
