Re: No video in LiveCD mode?

Okay, so I updated the Firefox, and Linux Mint now plays YouTube videos, but that's all, and with the current gung-ho censorship phase it's in, I'm not a big fan of Youtube. Neither Putlocker nor any of the other sources for movies/TV shows work on Linux Mint, at least not in LiveCD mode, and since ...

Re: No video in LiveCD mode?

Azarado, you didnt do anything wrong. I encountered your very same problem as well, when I started to use LinuxMint for the very first time on a live cd. The problem with testing any live cd or live usb version of LinuxMint 18 or 19 is the fact that it does NOT automatically install several media s...

Re: No video in LiveCD mode?

The version of Firefox that comes with Mint 18.3 is kind of old. See if updating it fixes your problems (yes you can update Firefox during a live session; but of course it is lost once you shut down). Thanks for the tip. I'm already in a LiveCD session now (have everything set up), but will give it...

No video in LiveCD mode?

I'm test-driving Linux Mint 18.3 Xfce as LiveCD on an old Dell Optiplex 755. I'm not getting access to any videos on any sites like putlockers, 123movie.cc, dailymotion, youtube, etc. The messages vary from 'format not supported', 'error loading sources', 'no playable sources found', 'this video for...

32 bit vs. 64bit?

I am preparing to test drive pfSense & Untangle NG Firewall 11.0.1, for use as a DIY router. Both come in 32 & 64 bit versions. Which versions do I download, or does it matter?

Legacy build advice wanted

I'm doing a build to run legacy Linux distros using kernels 2.4.31 (DSL) to 2.6.29.6, and wish to check compatibility of components for Linux Mint 7. I need to access list of hardware supported by kernel 2.6.28, changelogs, .config files, etc., that can be used to determine if my parts-list is viabl...

Motherboard recommendations?

I need board for any Phenom II X6 CPU (I'm flexible...any will do) that will meet all following requirements: 1. At least five PCIe/PCI slots (hopefully 2 supporting nVIDIA SLI, but starting to think this a lost cause!). 2. Floppy disc drive. 3. At least five SATA connectors. 4. Gigabit ethernet. 5....

RE: customization?

Someone on another forum told me it doesn't matter what desktop comes with any particular release as they can all be switched in and out. So I asked if KDE 4x in Linux Mint could be replaced with KDE 3x (the old version, not the Trinity stuff) and was told yes. Is this really true? Sounds too good t...

Great! I see it listed at linuxcd.org. So all releases after Mint 5 turns to KDE 4 desktop; Mint 10 is last Gnome 2, then it turns to Gnome 3...correct?

RE: releases with KDE version 3

I note on 'LinuxCD', the following Linux Mint releases available: 10 9 8 7 6 4.0 3.0 Any of these have KDE 3x desktop? I'm trying to avoid KDE 4, but couldn't force Distrowatch to cough up this info, and Google is being equally stubborn! If any of above has KDE 3, please advise last/most recent rele...

Re: RE: Crucial brand memory

My thanks to all! Good to know I do not have to settle for second choice brand. This will be my first experience with Linux, so I may not know the right questions to ask. Is there anything else I need to know about Linux Mint 'Julia', regarding DDR2, DDR3, or FB-DIMM?

RE: Crucial brand memory

On the Linux Mint hardware site:
http://community.linuxmint.com/hardware/search
I'm not finding any mention of Crucial brand memory being compatible with Linux Mint 'Julia' release. Is there known problem using this brand with Linux Mint 10?
