Re: mint 19 partition setup question RESOLVED

Thanks for your replies. I used the 'other' option and formated /dev/sda3 (root). Did not touch /dev/sda1 - was not able to specify that I wanted it to be my Home partition. The install was without problem. Now I have /dev/sda1 as a HOME partition which I can mount or unmount. Contains the 3 persona...

mint 19 partition setup question

I have managed to create 3 partitions: /dev/sda1, /dev/sda2, and /dev/sda3. My partition...

Dual booting Win 10 and Linuxmint 18.? 64 bit on laptop

My laptop is literally falling apart and the windows have started to come up in fragments. I have a brand new WD 1T external drive which I want to back up my data to. Does the Back up Tool in Mint also handle the Win 10 files? Will I have to partition and format the external first

Re: Clean Window?

Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately when I followed your instructions my Home folder disappeared but all the other folders remained. These folders are contained within the Desktop folder which is under my Home folder. The path is /home/chuck/Desktop/ = all the folders/files I do not want spre...

Clean Window?

Is there any way to hide the desktop files from always displaying on the window?
Ideally, for me, I would like to have only the COMPUTER icon showing.

Re: Livedvd asking for login name and password?

Livedvd asking for login name and password?

I have Mint 9 installed and wanted to have a dvd so I can install mint 9 on my sisters PC. I downloaded, checked the md5sum and burnt the iso image to a dvd. When I try to use the livedvd it gets to the splash screen and asks for a login name and a password. There is nothing in the Mint manual to co...
