Great solution to a common problem for dual booting with Windows. Thanks for the information.

[SOLVED] Re: LMDE Login Puzzler
Thanks so much for the tips! I finally figured it out. The problem was a theme I installed from http://art.gnome.org/themes/ which fouled everything up. I can't remember which specific theme I installed in particular that caused the login loop issue, but it's possible it is related to incompatibilit...

LMDE Login Puzzler
Hey All, I booted LMDE x64 today, and upon entering in my password at the login prompt the screen goes black momentarily before returning me to the login prompt. Initially I thought there may be a problem with GDM, so I removed all configuration settings and tried again. No go. So I went a step ahea...

Have you noticed this occurring when your doing something specific, or does it only/also occur while at idle?

Re: Future distros of Mint
First let me say how ecstatic :D I am that Mint 9 is now Debian. I am not real impressed with Ubuntu and its influence on Linux distributions. Is there a plan to make the other Mint distros Debian? :?: I sure hope so as I have had problems with versions of Mint that are Ubuntu based. :!: What do yo...

Make the menu shortcut properties point to the command you used to start the app (make sure you set it as an application in terminal). Should work.

Re: HOW TO: Solve your LMDE audio issues
I've found no difference after purging pulse-audio. For now I'm using external speakers and the sound is great. Will have to get some time to play with the hardware configuration so all the laptop speakers work in the future (oh and hopefully make them loud as well).

Definitely appreciate the help! Worked like a charm! I had searched for png's previously, as opposed to jpg. Doh!

Re: HOW TO: Solve your LMDE audio issues
Although I have not encountered issues relating to loss of sound, my audio only comes out of one of the speakers of my notebook. It's also very quiet, even on the maximum setting. I have adjusted the limited configuration, but that didn't help. I haven't found any other threads with the same problem...

Screen Lock Background Image - Where is it located?
I know this is likely trivial, but I cannot find the background image that you see when you wake the computer up from being idle (when the screen is locked and you have to enter in your password to return to the desktop). It's the 'mint green' image that is similar to the one loaded in the grub menu...

Re: 32 bit or 64 bit
You can't assume that switching from 32 to 64 bit will solve a display issue.Khalid wrote:If your laptop can handle 64-bit but you used 32-bit and that gave you a problem, then use 64-bit instead and hopefully your display problem will most probably get fixed.

Re: Mint Debian
Has anyone else tried importing bookmarks from firefox in LM9 to firefox in LMDE? When I tried importing "bookmarks.html" from a thumb drive exported from LM9 it only imports a small part of the file. No indication of an error, it just doesn't copy the whole file. It looks like the file o...

Re: Mint Home Server
I think the main idea initially was to make mint into a 'home' server strictly for the sake of fun and familiarity. If I were to use a server in a business environment I would go for either Server 2003 or CentOS based on having experience with them. That SME server looks cool, and I'll definitely ha...

Re: How to convert linuxmint.com to numerical address?
This is interesting stuff. Funny how the government thinks they will be able to oversee cyber-security when they have a worse track record than most commercial companies at cyber-defense. Not sure how well I trust CNET news though, so oh well.
