I'll give it a shot, thanks. I'm not sure Clonezilla will accept my hard drive (since there's not much of a boot sector left) but it's worth a try.

Okay, it's been a while since I had some time on my hands to struggle with my hard drive but I'm back now and bugging everyone for answers. haha-.
The testdisk advice was a good one, I'll do some mcgyving and tell you if I've accomplished something.
