Re: Wireless stopped working on wifes netbook

Thanks for the response. There is no physical switch. The FN + F5 do not have any effect. It is not necessarily "FN + F5". It could be FN + F1 etc. You have to check if there is a symbol on the keyboard (in the same color as the "FN"-key itself) which shows some kind of antenna. You could give me t...

Re: Wireless stopped working on wifes netbook

Hello jcg624, in common cases there is a button on the netbook which switches the wifi on and off. Could you check if this button is in "off state"? It should be somewhere at the case. Sometimes you have to press "FN + F5 (or simliar)"... http://images.google.de/search?site=&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1...

Do the following things in a terminal: Explanation to variables: $USERNAMEL$ : You user name on you PC (you can get your username via the command "whoami") $IP$ : The IP of your NAS $PATH$ : The folder you want to mount ("/pictures" for example) $USERNAMER$ : The username you want to use on your NAS...

Re: Nadia x86_64 - resolvconf not using DNS server from DHCP

This was changed in any realease. Don't know why.
On Ubuntu 12.04 (tested a few moments ago ;)) the configuration of the ifconfig is saved in the resolv.conf.

Okay than you should do

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install samba

Re: Nadia x86_64 - resolvconf not using DNS server from DHCP

I'm wondering how to explain this scenario.... If you give Linux a IP via ifconfig manually or via DHCP everything is stored temporary anywhere in /proc/net/... . The prober path doesn't matter. What matters is that every configuration of your interface is temporary stored there. If you gain an addr...

Re: Can't connect to local network drive

Hello jimkoh,

can you tell me which network protocol you use? Is it a smb share?

For a first attempt type this

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install samba
in a terminal and post the result.

So long

Re: Nadia x86_64 - resolvconf not using DNS server from DHCP

Hello, just write nameserver 192.168.1.1 into your resolv.conf. The problem is, that Linux saves a DHCP or even a manually configured IP address temporary. If you want a permanent config you have to add your parameters (like the nameserver) to the appropriated configuration files. You can find some ...

Re: Openvpn gateway?

This must be an internet ip address (all addresses apart of the private space and some other stuff).
Could look like 173.194.35.183 etc.

Re: Openvpn gateway?

I think this kind of configuration files are only for MS platforms.
But I don't if it's a good idea to configure a VPN if you don't know what your remote gateway is?! O.o

Hey,

have you set the permissions correct? Before you run the install make sure to do a sudo chmod a+x install.sh and afterwards run it again.
