Re: Linux is Not Windows
"Linux is Not Windows"...thank heavens. Been Microslop free for 8 years, don't miss the virus paranoia, the maintenance, the crashes, the (built in) spyware, the errors, the built in anti-competition bugs, etc, etc, etc. AAMOF, new PCs and WinDOHS! are two separate products, they should be...

Re: Is Twitter Inc Being Hypocrites?
And CNN, which is also part of the internet, had to retract a false story a couple of days ago and fire 3 people over it. Why don't you call for a boycott of them? Because CNN is not using Twitter as a hate conduit, Twitter is banning people standing up to this person's hate and misinformation, but...

We know who he's talking about. I think his post is borderline against Mint forum rules: Messages that contain sensitive religious or political topics may be removed on the basis of inciting far too emotional and personal debate. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=83314 How so? T...

Re: Is Twitter Inc Being Hypocrites?
Impossible to comment without knowing who the person is and what they're saying. Umm, that should be fairly evident by the clues, AAMOF, that very person was in the news just TODAY for that very thing. The main point is the two levels of rules for regular users and those with fame, celebrity, money...

Is Twitter Inc Being Hypocrites?
Twitter is well known for their over zealous account locking software (I have been a victim of it on numerous occasions). My question is, there's a certain very active troll with a skin pigment similar to that of an acidic fruit with a peel and segmented inside, very common to Florida, should said t...

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
With so many Applications making themselves SystemD and PulseAudio compatible i have seen people on forums question how practical Devuan and other SystemD free distributions will be in the long run. Going without applications , Smaller repository and a system full of hacked up software , is it wort...

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
It's about to move out of Beta , RC 1.0 available. :) That's good  . You'd have to be NUTS to install a beta release of a Linux distro. I know people who make a living doing linux/unix IT support and not one of them would do something like that unless they had to. So knowing what you're doing...

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
I liked antiX but the thing that annoyed me was there snapshot tool to convert your HDD install into a live disk. :( Unlike Refracta Tools It doesn't take a true snapshot and excludes things including drivers unless you piddle about with conf files and then it didn't work correctly. Oh, I did not k...

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
Ha ha, funny you should mention that. When I moved Devuan from an HDD to an SSD, I fresh installed Beta2, while it has been somewhat OK, it still uses libsystemd0. My only complaint is GUI lag during and after copying or moving large amounts of files all at once that exceed my 16GB of RAM, I'm guess...

Re: Linux is Not Windows
@Mintmag Ironically, MS and Windows allowed people to buy and use CHEAPER clones of very expensive IBMs (the modern day 'PC' as we know it), or even build their own if they were able, but in the process, MS created their own monopoly, like heroin or nicotine for the PC, once you got hooked... Then L...

Re: Linux is Not Windows
@mike44njdevils I don't understand the fascination with a few seconds less booting time, what really matters is how an operating system behaves after it's booted. The systemd fan boiz were making the same argument in their push to get everybody to drink their Kool-Aid. My experience with Windows (wh...

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
Wonder if Devuan would make a good base for the Debian version of Mint. Ha ha, I doubt it, that would mean supporting a systemd free version of Mint as well. The Mint people have already jumped off the systemd cliff, past the point of no return, unless something dramatic happens, like Red Hat pulls...

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
Thanks for doing that. Think i'll wait until the Beta version before i try it as i prefer Cinnamon. I'm not sure if you misunderstood, I find Cinnamon a bit buggy on top of any distro. Devuan is Debian Jessie without the systemd kernel barnacle spyware, Devuan was released a year later, after many ...

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
I booted in to Devuan and yes, task-cinnamon-desktop IS in the normal (non-backport) Devuan repos. Not sure if it's any good or not, Cinnamon is OK, but I found it to be a little on the buggy side, if I have to choose, I go with MATE.

Re: I installed Devuan 1.0 Beta (netinst)...
UPDATE : Do yourself a favour, if you want a hassle-free, stable install, stay away from backports (it's NOT selected by default during the install, if you select the Jessie install 'level' , I learned this the hard way, lol, FOUR *practice* installs later   :D ). Be sure to install any...

Nope, not that I'm aware of, usually editing the original post title suffices.MWave6 wrote:please let me know if there are any add'l ways I should be marking this resolved when appropriate.
