Re: usb mounting
So it works fine now. I was having a problem with compiz eating up about 750MB of memory... i reinstalled all components of compiz and it fixed the memory problem, as well as the 'visual' mounting problem with the usb drive. Note: I was using the standard compiz config that came with 5.0... I didn't...

Compiz eating a ton of resources
Is anyone else seeing compiz eat a ton of memory? before I rebooting it was using about 750MB of total memory, which is way too much. any ideas, I really don't have many effects enable, and as the day progresses the amount of memory seems to climb the command name displayed in htop is /usr/bin/compi...

Re: usb mounting
typically what I do with the thumb drives is right click on them and unmount them graphically ... it is just a little quicker than doing it via CLI. For some reason I can't do it on 5.0. No I don't have them in fstab.

Re: Elyssa mintMenu
I ran into this before. For me, I clicked the small arrow in the top right of the menu. I don't think you can see it if compiz is turned on.

Re: Wireless in 5.0 with Atheros
I'm fairly certain it is the ar5007eg as well.67GTA wrote:Are you sure it is the correct model? Ubuntu/Mint shows mine as a AR242, but it is actually an ar5007eg.
That being said, did you get yours working via ndiswrapper?

Wireless in 5.0 with Atheros
I have used many distro's at work and at home. And I have to start off with saying, Mint is my favorite by a mile. I'm running into my consistent wireless problem with my Toshiba P205D laptop. I had it working like a charm with 4.0, until I ran updates this morning. Since it stopped working, I figur...

I just installed 4.0b KDE into a VirtualBox VM. Everything seems to be working well. Open Office says it is crashing when I close it, but other than that seems to be running like a top. How do you enable Compiz? I remember in 3.1 Gnome all I had to do was click on Beryl in the menu and it work out o...
