Re: Linux Mint E17

Truth be told I'm not a developer. Just a tweaker and I've decided at least for today to hold off on the mint based e17. Not that I didn't get both 32 and 64 working- and I could get the 64 to install from the iso but couldn't for the life of me get the 32 iso to install (grub issue). Also there is ...

Re: Linux Mint E17

Good Morning :) Okay, Pei17 running on Mint 11 base is up. Writing you from a burned/downloaded iso. If you try it remember the 'profile' glitch but it goes away if you create a new user or install it. As you can see in the screenshot I moved it to the upper right corner. This is the 64 and will wor...

Re: Linux Mint E17

by jeffreyC on Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:50 pm PCLinux is RPM based and many people say that they have found RPM based distros to be bigger and slower than deb based distros. I have to agree. But mind you I used PCLinuxOS for years until they went KDE4. It was so darn stable/functional and I never had to t...

Re: Linux Mint E17

Okay, I'm uploading mint11-based e17. Should be up by tomorrow morning- slooowww! If not by tomorrow night :0 Just a little fyi in case you want to build one your self or try out my version. The Live DVD has one glitch (at least on my machine) -a profile error- that can be solved by 1. ignoring it (...

Re: Linux Mint E17

I've tried just about every e17 and for some reason- of course I could be wrong, I felt PCLinux e17 felt slower than deb/ubuntu versions IDK. I just had this feeling it was heavier. Anywho....

Re: Linux Mint E17

No worries zen, didn't take it that way and it does make me think of what is under Bohdi's hood vs Mint 11.

Tomorrow I'll have the chance to burn the iso so I'll reinstall and see if some Mint stuff goes back in smoothly... or I'll have wine and pizza instead :)

Re: Linux Mint E17

@zengeek Wouldn't it still be different than Bohdi?. My goal isn't to compete but to share e17 on several different platforms. With the Mint base people can choose to reinstall the packages- ehh if it's possible to do that. Oh anything is possible in Linux yes? :) I love e17! I miss KDE 3.5+ less an...

Re: Linux Mint E17

Thank you.

Is there a way to know which Mint packages are GPL licensed? If I remove all mint packages in synaptic is there still Mint code in the leftover base or is it then Ubuntu? Sorry for all the questions and I appreciate all the info.

Re: Linux Mint E17

I still do have questions if I may ask- about legalities. Could one be sued if a file here or there was missed in the rebranding? What penalties would there be? If it's made clear that it isn't an officilal mint distro? Which parts are GPL exactly? I understand the desire to keep Mint pure, but what...

Re: Linux Mint E17

Does "Not supposed to" mean I can't? I actually just want to share Mint 11 with e17 up and running. Wiki says Mint is GPL except for proprietary drivers and such. I think it did mention the Kernel. I couldn't find info on the main website about altering or distributing. Do you have a link ...

Re: Linux Mint E17

Howdy all. Not sure this has already been done but I've put together a Mint 11 e17 that should be up this coming week- probably Wed or Thursday June 1st or 2nd uploading takes a lifetime on Sourceforge. I've got an e17 deb squeeze and ub 10.4 32 or 64 I call PrimeE17 or Pe17. I'll do the same for mi...

Re: Linux Mint E17

Hey all! Just wanted to give a tip in case anyone has been having similar issues with some icons not showing up in Itask-ng. I installed kmix and ksnapshot and couldn't get them to show by editing the icon directly. What I did was go to /usr/share/applications/kde4 and edit the application there. Ri...

Mint e17 Remastersys noob Success!

I don't need to tell anyone how ACCKKK!!! it can be to make your own live cd! Unless you are using PCLinuxOS who really have it down I tell ya! I've used PCLOS for 6+ years until they recently gave up KDE 3.5+ which forced me to Distrowatch again and the heavens opened on e17... okay, I have to stop...

Re: #SOLVED# Auto login on Mint 9 LXDE?

Just in case anyone is still having issues with autologin...

I gave up trying to configure lxdm to work for me so I removed it and installed gdm. I then ran sudo gdmsetup. Had to unlock it and configure it and set my session to enlightenment which I love btw and it's working!

Best wishes,
Xeta

Re: Linux Mint E17

Hi exploder, no error messages. The only issue I have and have had with other distros is changing icons on ITask-NG. The blanl spaces you see are where apps are. Haven't figured that out yet. I know once on PCLinuxOSE17 when I installed Kmix and added it to the panel icons appeared. Didn't happen he...

Re: Linux Mint E17

Hey everyone! I'm very excited to be here! I don't know if this has been posted already so please forgive me. Last night after playing with elive, pclinuxOSe17, moonOS, OpenGue etc I landed here with mint 9 xfce running e17. It was one of the easier configs I've done. And again if this is old news p...
