Go to myaccount.google.com and enable access for "less secure applications"

Cool, saves me looking it up! Although @Administrollaattori's suggestion is most likely more secure.

Re: Thunderbird authentication

I think you're going to have to log into your google account and relax the security for third party email clients. I'll see if I can find out what I did when I get home later on today.

Re: VPN Issue: Can't Flush iptables - Permission Denied (you must be root)

If you aren't using the beta version 2.17.2, you might want to try that, I've been using it for months without issue, in fact I have an Additional Repository setup for eddie testing. See here for more info. Otherwise you could try calling your script from within eddie since eddie is run with root pr...

Have you tried turning off network lock before exiting eddie?

Re: SSH Server Setup

Hi Caleb05, If I understand you correctly, you can connect to you ssh server from outside your local network without using a password (so you have ssh keys setup). But you want to be able to do it without using the ip addresss your isp provided you or your username. If I'm correct in my guess then a...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Hi All, Quick note to say 'Hello' as I've recently returned to folding after a multi-year absence and joined the team with three folding machines, Izzy, Milo and Jaffa, named after my three cats !!!! I'm currently folding on a GTX1080ti, GTX1060 3GB, one Ryzen 1700 and two Ryzen 1500's. So looking ...

Re: Mintbox mini 2 Pro

Just bought one, got it a couple of days ago. First impressions are that it's small, solid, comes with Mint 19.1, and works well. It's a full blow system as far as I can tell at least for it's purpose of being connected to our main TV for streaming and some browsing. One issue you might have is the ...

Re: Cinnamon is currently running without video hardware acceleration

Hi blankblankthe and welcome to the forum. Your inxi shows that the proprietary nvidia drivers are not loaded. You should probably run 'Driver Manager' from the Menu - Administration and see what is says. If it shows that 'nouveau' is loaded, then check the latest nvidia driver and reboot when you s...

The problem is number 2. Google uses the IP range 172.217.0.0-172.217.255.255, so I need to allow
all that. How is this done?
172.217.0.0/16 should allow 172.217.0.0 - 172.217.255.255.

Re: Gufw firewall not working

sudo ufw status [sudo] password for user: WARN: /etc is world writable! WARN: /etc is group writable! Status: active This probably isn't the issue here but having /etc as world and group writable is not secure. Could you post the output from ls -l /etc ls -l /etc/gufw ls -l /etc/ufw

Re: Gufw firewall not working

If you didn't install and configure a VPN then you probably aren't using one, if ifconfig shows a 'tun0' or 'tun1' then you are using a VPN. Firejail, I didn't think of that. I use firejail as the 'simple method' firejailing only specific apps, not the 'full desktop integration' as explained here . ...

Re: Gufw firewall not working

I've had been using gufw for a couple of months without any issue. Last week I had to reinstall Linux Mint and from then on gufw simply doesn't work for me. I can use the firewall ufw from the terminal. All the commands work there correctly. Even when I enable ufw there, the profiles I made with gu...

Re: Gufw firewall not working

Is this the problem? I guess you'll have to delete /etc/gufw manually, rmdir won't remove a directory if there's files in it. I'd use nemo for this, right-click on a folder in the main window pane and select 'Open as Root', then navigate to /etc/ in the new nemo with elevated privileges so that the...

Re: Gufw firewall not working

Try apt purge gufw then apt policy gufw which should show (None) as installed, then apt install gufw again and see if that works. It should remove and reinstall your config files. Earlier you said that when you ran gufw from the command line you got no output in the terminal, but did you get the req...

Re: Gufw firewall not working

Did you try installing/reinstalling?

Code: Select all

apt install --reinstall gufw
Adding sudo infront is not necessary as it will ask for a password.
