Re: No soundcard : no sound

Ok, I read that the snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0 doesn't work on newer kernels, but I was guessing the the 5.15 kernel wasn't exactly new, Oops. All the suggestions you are making are making the assumption that the driver loads as it should load when the system boots. That is not happening. That mea...

Re: No soundcard : no sound

Your inxi shows that the audio device is detected but there is no driver assosiated with it. Searching the net shows that people have resolved this issue by forcing Grub the load the intel driver. 1. Open a terminal and run xed admin:///etc/default/grub enter your password if required to open/etc/d...

Re: VNC: Can't access remote desktop

Sounds like you might be in 'view-only' mode on the server (your pi). I use remmina as the viewer and vino-server as the server. In my case on the server I can either install 'dconf Editor' and navagate to /org/gnome/desktop/remote-access, scroll down and unset 'view-only' or use gsettings. You can ...

The only thing I can think of is to set your browser to 'Use hardware acceleration when available'.

I believe you're refering to the Modern vs Traditional Panel Layout. That can be changed by Menu - Pereferences - Welcome - First Steps, then clicking Traditional.

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

With fahcontrol I have the possibility to change the cpu-cores, i can define a gpu and much more. Via the web interface this is not possible. Maybe I should ask: How can i fold with mint20 / ubuntu 20.4, when python 2.0 is obsolete and fahcontol wont work anymore? Hi berndinger, I think you should ...

Sorry Fizz, I don't know of anything else beside the gsettings commands above that would only affect the connected notification and not both.

Re: network notifications

Hi Fizz, Even though the link you provided is old it should still work, nothing has been moved or renamed. You can test the key values by using 'get' instead of 'set' in the gsettings commad like so gsettings get org.gnome.nm-applet disable-connected-notifications and gsettings get org.gnome.nm-appl...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Hi tinca,

I haven't seen this problem before, usually the GPU isn't recognized at the start. I don't see Nvidia 430.26 available on my 19.2, only 430.50 (I'm using it now) and 435.21(haven't tried yet) as the latest drivers.

Did you add the drivers ppa?

Since you mention Windows Geforce Experience I'll assume you have an nvidia card.

Do you have the proprietary nvidia drivers installed? Please post the terminal output of inxi -Gx

Re: Looking for Mini Desktop for Mint or Mintbox

I bought a mintbox mini 2 pro direct from fit-iot.com. Add $50 USD shipping and any VAT (or Duties/taxes) (For me in Canada it was $81 CAD) so it adds up! Ships from Israel so shipping might be cheaper for you.

What kernel is your friend running? Probably something newer than the 4.15 series. You might want to try upgrading your kernel to the newest of the 5.0 series.
