I am using Variety wallpaper changer in cinnamon 1.8 on Manjaro, not on LMDE anymore. You have to add the following line to ~/.config/variety/scripts/set_wallpaper: gsettings set org.cinnamon.background picture-uri “file://$1″ 2> /dev/null for it to work, but in my opinion it is the best out there. ...
Yup, yup and no, not stuck on gallium - I have it working in Manjaro (see edit to my first post), off work with a back injury, needed to get it running to play half-life2, or day time TV would have driven me insane

New volunteer (or volunteered :)): Tracking Sid, installed, boots to distorted log-in screen (mainly black, bar of distorted colour at top 2-3cm) with huge square mouse cursor, that can be moved. Don't know anything about mac, but are you getting a grub screen with that countdown? If so press 'e' to edit the grub command line and add noapic there.
Why not try the Liquorix kernel? Currently on 3.6.x, if you don't like it or it cause problems, just boot to previous kernel in grub and uninstall with synaptic.
3d support on the open source driver is poor, you need the proprietary AMD driver. They work for Lizbeth, they don't work for me - HD5400. I suggest using clonezilla before trying to install.
Same here :), but this spin-off has a graphical installer of sorts (and I had a spare 20gb partition). I won't say it was easy, I must of tried 3 times, eventually got there with the beta installer. It (Arch) is a bit rough around the edges, needs a decent synaptic type application (pacman-gui is cr...
Might try that later, compiling current liquorix kernel for Arch ATM (I really like Manjaro, it feels so snappy compared to LMDE, perhaps I need a fresh install to compare). Yeh, I had a panel less gnome2 for a while it wasn't to bad, I just renamed gnome-panel to gnome-panel-old.
Before I used Cinnamon, I used to use just compiz as my dm, think I will dig out my old config files and play. Never liked gnome2 but I do like cinnamon and gnome 3
Yes, that is why I installed Manjaro, fglrx was just not going to work for me in Sid, but I saw good reports that it was working in Arch. I am just familiarizing myself with Arch (never used it before), before I take the plunge and install XFCE. Only problem is I will be stuck on XFCE if it works (n...
