Re: When the Fedora Engineering Manager hates GNOME3…

I've heard PCLinuxOS uses the Brain ^^^^ Scheduler(sorry for the language but that's what it's called) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/rainbows it's suppose to be faster then the default scheduler. Do you notice a difference? Liquorix recently switched to using BFS by default, but I wouldn't have real...

Why do new people give up on Linux?

Re: This is terrible folks!!

That was pretty funny alright, Tex is such a comedian. the "Canterbury Project" announcement was also a hoot and as such a great show of cooperation between several very different distros. About one out of three people who posted in reply at the Arch forums were really wondering lol.

Re: If Linux Mint disappeared tomorrow, what would you use?

"Ease of setup" is relative and it's not my first consideration. Arch is my main and favorite distro and setup involved a bit of work and study but I had and am having a blast with it. (...) I think Clem is an excellent packager and he does great work and I really like the community but I actually ...

Anybody else try out the Squeeze b1 net install?

I just finished with it and then converted it all over to Sid and I was really impressed. The net install itself was a tad slow but it didn't miss a beat and the entire process from start to finish didn't really take all that long at all. Getting my tools, a patched kernel, Compiz, the Firewall, ass...

Re: Reasons You Hate Windows

Another reason I hate winblows is the branding. Every time I see one of those stupid flags I want to vomit. Hating something because of a logo? That's getting pathetic... I agree that the window logo needs to change though. It has been the same since Windows XP. Edited in the interest of goo...

Re: WOW am I new LOL

Welcome, I hope you have a positive and exciting experience with Linux. You'll be able to get things up and running and have a solid and secure system fairly easily but you'll likely find there's much to learn. So be patient with yourself, don't be afraid to ask questions and read. The whole m$ thin...

Re: If Linux Mint disappeared tomorrow, what would you use?

Relatively OK, I can be agree with you although I don't like Arch, e.g. rolling release and "Arch or the art to make more difficult than Slackware", and sid/aptosid, for a distro. "There is life after Mint (and Ubuntu)", yes, of course... ""Ease of setup" is relative and it's not my fi...

Re: Enough of this already

Has this ID ever acknowledged a reply? It's odd that such an inquisitive mind wouldn't. @AT, did you actually chat with BP or did you just leave a message queued for that ID? To me, the pattern looks mechanical. The ID is not MR/DD, "they" express themselves far too clearly and the nature of the que...

Re: Would Trojan Horse attacks work on Linux?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuxnet Which Linux distribution would be least vulnerable to these types of attacks? It's odd that such important infrastructure would use Windows. OK, you go from asking if our laptops came with a case to asking about a very specific and sophisticated Trojan? The answ...

Re: If Linux Mint disappeared tomorrow, what would you use?

yeah the forums are what scared me away from aptosid (when it was still called sidux). Well that and the fact that I kept hearing stories of gnome breaking in sid. Xfce is only fun for so long and I don't really like KDE. So I thought I better use something testing based.... Yeah and what's up with...
