Re: Gnome panel issue in Gloria
Hi, Yes, it seems to be a good explanation. :D I just would have liked this new behaviour to be explained somewhere, in the help file (at least in the french one, maybe the english one is up to date), it's still the old behaviour which is described to move the panels. Have fun anyway :)

Re: Gnome panel issue in Gloria
Hi,
You have to alt+left_click on the panel to drag-and-move it now.
Don't really now why the gnome developpers have introduced this behaviour but it gave me headache before i found this trick somewhere.

Re: logging in as root
Hi,
If you want to perform some operations which need root access, just use the sudo command . for instance and provide your user password when prompted
Anyway, if you want to enable root password, i think will do the trick

Re: Options for dual-boot screen
Hi, I don't know if you can get rid of the timeout but you can gksudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst and try to set the timeout value to something like 3600 (it's an hour, should be enough time :) ). Edit: maybe just commenting the timeout line with a # will do the trick, i m trying and tell you if it wo...

Re: Possible Problems
hi,
Did you try to boot the livecd ? Of course it may differ from a real installation but usually it works more or less like an installed system and it might be a way to know what works and what can cause troubles.
And no, you should not have any problem recovering your data from an external hdd.

Hi,
You installed the proprietary drivers i think so you should be able to launch menu/administration/nvidia xserver settings .
In the X Server Display Configuration tab, do you have more options ?

Re: Dual Boot Problems: Linux Mint boot up page gone
sudo fdisk -l did not work? (it s a l , not a 1) anyway, assuming sda4 is the good partition, Once you booted the livecd, sudo mkdir /media/toto (toto is an example, you can call it anything you like) sudo mount /dev/sda4 /media/toto then sudo grub-install --root-directory=/media/toto/boot/grub /dev...
