Re: Why doesn't Wine work?

. . . since I don't want to spend time hunting for other programs. Crucial is the only one I know of. If it is 'already in the repositories' . . . there is nothing to hunt for. What is it you want "CrucialScan" to for? And why is it so important? Go to this site > http://google.com/linux in the sea...

Does every single piece of Microsoft software require Wine?

I don't like OpenOffice since it won't let me do certain types of editing for read-only files. I want to install Microsoft Office on Mint. Would it require Wine? I'm still trying to figure out how to install Wine.

How do I make the Terminal quotations go away?

Every time I start up Terminal, there's some text drawing and a witticism. Who created all these witticisms and how many are there? I've never seen the same one twice.

Anyway, how do I make Terminal not display it?

Re: Why doesn't Wine work?

This seems like a pretty important program. Why wasn't it include in the installation? It's only important if you use a Windows program or games. I don't use any Windows-based program ... Nor does anyone I know that uses Linux. I am an Architect in the US and I use GNU/Linux and Open Source exclusi...

*chill out* Nothing is a matter of life and death Relax ... breath ... Let's take this slow and easy If you 'right-click' on the Wine icon, you should get a small menu Programs Browse C: Drive Configure Wine Uninstall Wine Software Maybe, you need to "configure" the Wine program for your comp...

Re: Why doesn't Wine work?

I went to crucial.com and downloaded a file that scans my computer since I want to know what kind of laptop RAM I have to upgrade. When I clicked on the icon, I get a message that says an error occurred while loading the archive. Command Line Output: Archive: /home/brawny/Downloads/CrucialScan.exe [...

What's the difference between software and package manager?

Does package manager contains downloads that might give my computer a virus? If it's a trusted source, like Wine, does it matter which one I download from?

Why doesn't Wine work?

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=61017 I've been using Mint for four months now, and I finally realized that the wine glass icon for exe files means I have to install something called Wine. I found it under Features in Software Manager and installed it. There's a Wine icon now in my ...

Re: Why can't a downloaded web application won't work on Min

First of all, " .exe " files are for MS Windows-based Operating Systems and do not work on any Linux OS. You might be able to use this scan program through a 'Wine' application. Secondly, what is it you are trying to do, exactly? There is probably a Linux based application that will do the same thi...

Re: Why doesn't Google answer any of my questions?

Why? When I answer other people's questions, I don't expect a thank you. Well, it's up to you. For me it's just a question of politeness. To tell the truth, you spamming the forums is really annoying. You don't mark topics "solved" if they are, you come with a ton of questions that could be easily ...

Theorem: Let A and B be sets, with injections f : A ! B and g : B ! A. Then there exists a canonical bijection F : A ! B. Re: Why are there numbers?

Are there theoretically more integers or more natural numbers? This is the key result that allows comparison of infinities. Perhaps it is the first serious theorem in set theory after Cantor’s diagonalization argument. Apparently Cantor conjectured this result, and it was proven independently by F. ...

Re: Why doesn't Google answer any of my questions?

What do they mean I could be dangerous with crayons and a computer? Crayons aren't as sharp as pencils or pens, and it's not like I know how to, at this point, hack into the US Department of Defense. You obviously even don't know how to say thank you, if somebody answers your question. Why? When I ...
