Are you sure? The GPL clearly allows for users to link non-GPL'ed (read proprietary drivers) code into GPL'ed code (the kernel). What you cannot do is distribute the result of that. I understand what you meant Tony and I'm not arguing it. But you compared GPL violations to reverse-engineering, and while they're both against US law (as I understand it) I find one unacceptable and have no problem with the other.. so I just wanted to react on that. yea, its definately not useable :( (stable version anyway). resizing windows doesn't work, etc... oh well, at least we have beryl :)

you should go talk to the guys at sabayon... they figured out a way to delink the nvidia/ati binary blobs from the kernel, and then dynamically link it back in at run time so that all legal requirements are fulfilled, but it also becomes very easy for the user. I'll do some research and help you out...
