Re: "Is it possible to update itunes on xp with liveusb?"

No problem, just thought I'd share. Her laptop has iTunes, but it's out of date (installed in 2010 I think, and never updated since then). The admin rights are so messed up, you can't install anything on your own, and submitting an IT request means sending the machine to the district office.

"Is it possible to update itunes on xp with liveusb?"

Crazy question, I know. My wife's (employer-provided) xp laptop is so heavily locked-up in Admin rights by her school district that she can't update any of her programs. She needs to update iTunes, along with her iPod touch (also school-provided) so she can download newer apps to use in her classroo...

Re: Mint Laptop not connecting with home network

Well, the Linksys BEFW11S4 finally died. The Red Diag light was constantly on and I couldn't get into the router using the IP address. (and if there was a way to fix it, too late). So, I picked up a Belkin 600N DB at Best Buy this weekend and my 'MintBook' can access the wireless signal without a pr...

Re: Mint Laptop not connecting with home network

Still no luck connecting to home wireless network. Yes, I entered the WEP exactly as shown. It's the same key I entered in my wife's XP laptop, and her iPod touch and they're both able to access the network. When away from home, I am able to access wireless networks at work (guest WEP key) and other...

Re: Mint Laptop not connecting with home network

Try going to http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Ipw2200 - you should be able to download and install the driver from there. I looked and have no idea where to start. I saw the message 'may ruin your wireless card' if it goes wrong. Still can't connect to our home wireless, but I am able to connect while...

Mint liveUSB with Kino installed?

In order to convert home movies from our Sony Digital8 camcorder, I run it through firewire to my Mint9 laptop, using Kino to convert the .dv files to .mpg and burn a DVD. My wife is a band teacher and loaned out our camera to record their concerts this week. The orchestra teacher noticed they had t...

Re: Linux Mint 10 "Julia" released!

Great name for the new release (my 8 week old daughter's name). Looking forward to upgrading my laptop. Congratulations :) Thanks, she will be 2 months old on Friday. I installed Mint10 on an old desktop PC I'm trying to set up as a wireless garage workstation. It installed fine, how I need to figu...

Re: Mint Laptop not connecting with home network

I even went so far as to go with a wired connection to the router, and copy/paste the wep key from the router's browser to the laptop, disconnected and tried the key again... nothing. It works fine on my work 'guest' wep key, still. ran inxi-N and had 'intel pro/wireless 2200BG Calexico2 Network Con...

Re: Mint Laptop not connecting with home network

If you left-click on the wireless icon in your system tray, does your home network show up as an available network? If several networks are detected, your home network may not show up on the initial list, you may have to expand the list to see it. Is your home network set up as a hidden network? Ou...

Mint Laptop not connecting with home network

I originally set up our Linksys BEFW11S4 without a WEP key and the Mint Laptop could connect to the wireless without a problem. After setting up a WEP key, the only computer that can connect to the wireless network is my wife's XP laptop. I have tried my laptop at work, using our guest WEP key, and ...

Re: How do I remove Ubuntu partition?

Sorry guys, but I gave up last night and did a complete re-install of Mint. When I tried resizing the partition, the only option I had at the time was to make the partition smaller. On the plus side it seems to be running smoother than when I started. Also, when I re-installed wine, I was able to ge...

Re: How do I remove Ubuntu partition?

I turned part of the unallocated partition into Primary ext4 and rebooted without the disc. It boots into Mint just fine, but the Mint partition is still only 25GB (I tried "Move/Resize", but wasn't able to make the partition any bigger than 25GB). I'm still tinkering with it, but at least Mint runs...

Re: How do I remove Ubuntu partition?

I tried growing the partition, but the only options I have for that partition is to shrink it. I don't see an option that allows me to make the partition larger than the 25GB it is already set at. (This is shown as hda6). HDA1, which used to hold the Ubuntu partition, is un-allocated at this time. I...

Re: How do I remove Ubuntu partition?

Well, I successfuly deleted the Ubuntu partition, but was unable to expand the Mint partition. SO, when I restarted Mint, the 80GB HDD ended up being 25GB with only 10GB left (25GB being the original Mint partition). I updated Grub, and now get an error message about invalid ID's when I try to resta...

Re: How do I remove Ubuntu partition?

Thanks, the main reason I don't just wipe everything and start over with Mint is that when I did install Mint this weekend, I had to sit through over 200 updates and I already set up my VPN and remote desktop setup to log into my work PC. I'm slowly getting the files I don't want to lose before I pr...

How do I remove Ubuntu partition?

I dual-booted Mint 9 next to my Ubuntu 9.10 to test it out and now I can't log into the Ubuntu side (When I enter my Password for the Ubuntu side, it shows the splash screen again and goes back to the password). Since my laptop seems to run smoother with Mint than it did with Ubuntu, I'd like to dum...
