Re: Linux Mint 12 and no sound?

You need to click on the icon at the very top left of your screen, it's similar to a figure 8, but lying down. Then you need to click "applications". Scroll down to "system settings" and click. (it's on the left side near to the bottom of page) "Sound" will be in there, click it. Then check th...

Re: "Getting printer information" delay when printing

Mine does it, Mint 9, Samsung mono laser printer. It's always done it, but I don't mind waiting, I'm not in that much of a rush!
I'm just happy it works. :D

Re: Firefox 5.0

Has anyone had a problem with printing to file (PDF)?
I sometimes print a web page to file, but Firefox goes through the motions but nothing appears.

Is it a bug, is there a work around?

As a aside, it works fine with Chromium, but I prefer Firefox!

(SOLVED) Namoraka browser

Hello, I installed Firefox 4 (which showed up as MINEFIELD), had a play with it and then removed it. I then re-installed firefox from the software manager, but it's now called NAMOROKA (version 3.6.15pre). I've tried to reinstate firefox to no avail, I think I've broken something. The old say...

Chromium browsers back button (SOLVED)

As the title really.
After years of using Firefox I am now a Chromium convert.

In Firefox you can go back a page by pressing the 'back button' on your keyboard.
I can't do this with Chromium, is there a way to remedy this, about:config?

Re: RatFace Go Bye-Bye

I hear you Ratface, I won't ask what I think are stupid questions, in case some brain surgeon gets on my case, and then hits me with a boat load of questions I can't answer! Linux is a steep learning curve for us mere mortals. It comes down to basic manners, if you've nothing nice to say, shut the *...

Re: New router modem

Thanks for all the replies. :D After spending nearly four hours this morning, trying every trick and configuration I know, the conclusion is that I've got a dud router/modem! It's being collected tomorrow for return to warehouse, and a new one replacing it. :D I'll let you know how I progress. Mick

Re: New router modem

It's DHCP, also I've tried "Automatic DHCP" and "Automatic DHCP addresses only"with a DNS provider selected (typed in), in network connections. Bizarrely, when I loaded mint a few months ago auto eth0 picked the old router up almost instantly, I thought it might do the same again. I'm getting ...

Re: New router modem

I'll try and be a bit more graphic. Everything was working fine with my old router, but the router was dropping connection regularly, broadband via phone line. I purchased a new router modem (Zoom X6) and connected it up to the phone line (straight into the test socket) and computer via Ethernet RJ4...

New router modem

Hi, I tried to connect a new router modem (Zoom X6), my computer doesn't seem to recognise it, so no internet connection! I've been into the routers settings and put my details in and saved them. I have reverted back to the old router modem for now, but it is in dire need of a rest. Is there a comma...

Re: Update Manager seems to be broke!

Thanks for the quick response Dataman. :D 1. I'm not behind a proxy, broadband via a router modem. 2. There are no warnings or error messages, it goes through the motions of checking and the at the bottom of the update window there is a message, stating that my system is up up date. 3. Internet conn...

I am running Linux Mint 9 Isadora alongside Windows XP SP 3 (dual boot), mint is getting my vote so far. :) Now to my problem. It seems Update Manager has stopped working.
