Re: Nemo Actions

Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon: New feature in Nemo Actions: " The condition for nemo actions can now be an external script or command. " I would be nice if someone could give a couple of examples for this new feature, as the file 0-Sample.Nemo.Action only contains this: # Conditions - semicolon-separate...

Re: Nemo Actions

A note of caution and a tip for users trying any action sourced from a third party. If the Icon-Name specifies an icon that doesn't actually exist in the icon path of your system the action won't appear at all in the context menu. So if you are having issues with an action not showing up commenting...

Re: Forum subsection: Nemo Actions

I've got a bunch of Nemo actions that I keep on intending to share via a dedicated Github repo and then invite people to submit others to be hosted on the repo. Maybe I'll get round to it sometime....as it stands they are scattered around the forum mostly.... Very good idea! I've found some time to...

Nemo Actions

Nemo Actions Nemo file manager allows users to add entries to its context menu, which means it will take only one click to perform some complex file operations, for example, involving a number of commands. The folder /usr/share/nemo/actions contains some default actions as well as an example of a N...

Good idea!
I think you're in a better position to decide where exactly to start this topic.
I can try to make a curated list perhaps this weekend - thank for the links!

Forum subsection: Nemo Actions

How about creating a new subsection under "PERSONALIZE AND CUSTOMIZE LINUX MINT" for Nemo Actions ? There are only a few Actions that come as default for Nemo file manager although this is one of the outstanding features of Nemo in comparison to others especially in terms of user-friendliness. It mi...

Re: Tweaking cinnamon.css

This list provided me with everything I needed it seems; thank you so much! I guess the level of transparency in all these panel elements (text and icons) depends on the color codes used in this list; for example, using the hex color code #ffffff , and not something like rgba(255,255,255,0.8) produc...

[SOLVED] Tweaking cinnamon.css

I prefer using a transparent top panel with Linux Mint Cinnamon ( https://github.com/germanfr/cinnamon-transparent-panels ) - "Shadow Mode" suits best for me. This means I'm stuck with Arc theme ( https://github.com/NicoHood/arc-theme ) at the moment for it's the only one that uses opaque (white) te...

[SOLVED] Is it possible to keep all icons and texts solid while adding some transparency to panel?

I like adding some transparency to Cinnamon panel (more than menus) but then icons and texts on it are also affected, which is not desirable. I wonder if this can be avoided or this requires some improvement in Cinnamon - probably in line with the Pantheon panel (I wish we could have more of such fe...

Re: Master PDF Editor cannot open files with extended ASCII characters in the path/filename

I've found a workaround: starting this app with this command: env LC_ALL=tr_TR.UTF-8 masterpdfeditor4
It might be because of a weird incompatibility specifically between the latest versions of Master PDF Editor (4.3.89) and Linux Mint (18.3).

[SOLVED] A very recent font-smoothing issue with Win32 apps under wine

Wow! That's it! Thanks a million :-) (I used it as "$HOME/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf") BTW this problem did not occur because such a configuration file was deleted or overwritten in recent weeks. I can see no such configuration file in my home partition before this happened when I restore backup ...

Re: A very recent font-smoothing issue with Win32 apps under wine

Bad news; I'm afraid this not the right way leading to the solution of this problem. For I just compared these directories, and they haven't changed at all since January. Although this seems to solve the problem in Wine, it creates font family and size problems here and there all over the system :-(...

Re: A very recent font-smoothing issue with Win32 apps under wine

Oh my God!!! ;-) You've spotted the root of the problem so quickly! The settings under "/etc/fonts" directory. Now the next step would be which file and which settings exactly cause this problem in Wine. As you said this solved the problem in Wine but system-wide the only apparent adverse side-effec...

Re: A very recent font-smoothing issue with Win32 apps under wine

Thanks... But no, I'm sure it's not such a compatibility issue. It affects all the apps I use under Wine none of which had any such problem until a couple of weeks ago. At the moment I'm working on finding out when exactly it happened, using Clonezilla backup images, and restoring my oldest system b...

[SOLVED] A very recent font-smoothing issue with Win32 apps under wine

Long long time ago users needed to do a little fine-tuning to achieve font-smoothing in Windows apps running under Wine (either by executing a script or using a similar tool in Winetricks), which was later taken care of in deault Wine configuration. However, under Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon edition, r...

Re: [SOLVED] gnome-terminal not working - probably due to some locale problem

And...bingo!
I've just noticed that one of the settings in "~/.pam_environment" was pointing to a language not included in the list of languages installed (as shown in System Settings/Lanuages)
Thanks... I won't forget this again ;-)

Re: gnome-terminal not working - probably due to some locale problem

Sorry for the ambiguity; when I first clicked on it (e.g. Menu/Favorites) nothing happened, and after I played with locale settings a bit ("/etc/default/locale" and "~/.pam_environment") I began to see an icon for a couple of secs only which then disappears...

[SOLVED] gnome-terminal not working - probably due to some locale problem

I've stumbled upon this problem a couple of times before, and unfortunately don't remember how I've managed to resolve it. All I remember is that it was caused by a locale setting problem (this time I'll write it down) maybe related with the fact that I use a combination of US and UK English, and so...
