Re: [SOLVED] NVIDIA Drivers not working on Linux Kernel 5.8.x
I solved the problem. I'm now using AMD Radeon RX550 video cards in both machines. Linux Mint reports no driver needed in the Driver Manager.

Re: Mint 20.1 64Bits - Reboot when i shutdown
I had the same problem with a new NVidia card (GTX1050T1 4G). Changed drivers, disabled 'wake on LAN', cleared CMOS, etc. Problem persisted with booting a live USB flash drive and a DVD. Decided it was either a bad motherboard by coincidence, or the video card. Changing the video card was much easie...

Re: [SOLVED] NVIDIA Drivers not working on Linux Kernel 5.8.x
I found that on my test machine (AMD X6 1055, NVidia 9800GT, 16GB RAM), that the NVidia drivers work properly on Mint 20 and 20.1 while using kernel 5.4. When I changed to 5.8, the NVidia driver had to be removed and the computer set back to the open source driver to get the screen back to normal. I...

Re: Linux 20 freezes
For what it's worth, I had the same problem with LM 20. I have an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and an old NVIdia 9800GT and an MSI Aorus M motherboard with 16G RAM. Mine were random. I did install the NVidia drivers and that seemed to have taken care of the problem. I never had this problem with LM 19.3.

Caja Directory Compare
Would it be possible to add a directory/file compare feature to Caja sometime in the future, such as is available in Ghost Commander?

Shouldn't have do this via the terminal. The old graphical printer setup through the menu worked just fine!

Re: Nvidia drivers installed : black screen at reboot
Same problem. Tried all the suggestions, no luck using LMDE 201109-64 bit. My test computer is an MSI 785GT-E63 mb, 6G RAM, 8600GTS w/512M, AMD Phenom II X6-1055 cpu. Luckily the is a test machine, so no problem. I consider this a major problem that shouldn't be happening. I've been having the same ...

Re: building new computer...
I just installed the new AMD 6 core 1055T processor (<$200 US). The old one was a dual core X6000. Video transcoding time for a 2 hour movie went from just over 2 hours down to about 38 minutes. This on a machine with 4GB RAM and Mint 9 64 bit. Something to think about.

Ferro's method didn't work for me.
I'll stay with the Gnome version. I prefer it anyway.

Re: KDE 9 amd64 Stable nVidia driver problem. (solved)
This is all well and good, but, remember that the average computer user who wants to try or use Mint has no idea how to edit grub. This should be taken care of in the background so the user can just use the Hardware Driver route for installing and activating the NVidia drivers.

Re: CANNOT GET NVIDIA DRIVER
It appears that this is only a problem with Mint 9 KDE 64 bit version. The 32 bit version has no problem, at least on my test machine.

Re: CANNOT GET NVIDIA DRIVER
Addendum: I also tried the older drivers - same problem . All this was done through the GUI, as I don't believe that the average person should have to to the command line to edit a config file etc. I'm fully capable, having done so many a time (started on Red Hat back around version 2 or 3 where the...

Re: CANNOT GET NVIDIA DRIVER
Actually, I just installed Mint 9 KDE on my test machine. I'm using an NVidia 9800GT. I was not able to install the NVidia driver under KDE. I also had a problem with the installation telling me that the video was running in low resolution mode (could not recognise what video card I'm using). I norm...
