RAM clock speed config?

Last fall I built a new machine and installed Mint 17 (rebecca). My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 4.0), and I put 2x8GB of ram in it, Kingston HyperX Beast 2400mHz. The machine didn't feel as fast as it might have, so I went back and and poked around in the BIOS. None of the speed pr...

Re: Linux Mint 15 KDE and time synchronization

I've been having time issues also. After coming to this thread, I decided to check what /etc/localtime was symlinked to. Turns out it was dead: $ ll /etc/localtime lrwxrwxrwx 2 root root 18 Sep 9 12:47 localtime -> ../SystemV/MST7MDT I symlinked it to /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Denver and witin sec...

Upgraded to Olivia; need to downgrade MySQL to 5.1

Yesterday I finally got a chance to upgrade from Lisa/KDE to Olivia/KDE. I've been putting all my web development stuff back together, and have come to the conclusion that it will be quicker to downgrade MySQL from 5.5.32 to 5.1.66 -ish than to massage my databases. Unfortunately, Google can't tell ...

Apache2 mod_dir loaded, but not its conf? [SOLVED]

I just upgraded my Mint 9 KDE system. Part of that was upgrading Apache2 to 2.2.14-5ubuntu8.4, which uninstalled the PHP5 module. After I rebooted (kernel upgrade also), I installed libapache2-mod-php5. The PHP5 module is loaded and working correctly, however I think mod_dir is messed up. I can go t...

Re: Mouse button mapping

I got btnx to do what I want, with a couple of issues. In console windows, instead of the actual copy or paste action, I get "^C[enter]" and "^V" typed at the prompt. In Blender, the wheel button is completely hijacked, which is a huge problem. There doesn't seem to be per-program settings for btnx,...

Re: Mouse button mapping

Hadn't seen that one, but it didn't get me anywhere useful. I don't understand the format for the imwheelrc stanzas. I added -e "pointer = 3 2 1 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12" in ~/.Xmodmap, but imwheel -c still detects the thumb buttons and the one behind the wheel all as button 6. Using btnx doesn't do wha...

Mouse button mapping

I'd like to configure my Logitech MX310 mouse in KDE Mint 9 the same way I've always had it in Windows. I'm left handed, so I already have the 1 and 2 buttons reversed. I see lots of HOWTOs out there, but I'm not sure which pieces of them still apply (I'm pretty sure editing xorg.conf is deprecated)...

Re: Sound from few programs

Raising the PCM level allowed me to hear what I was missing, although the mystery remains as to why some things are running through ALSA and some through something else.

Also, how do I get all sound sent to the headphones when they are plugged in?

Sound from few programs

I installed Mint KDE edition yesterday, and got around to plugging in my speakers today, when I noticed I wasn't getting any sound output. After some fiddling, I've managed to hear the multimedia settings test, KDE startup/shut down sounds, and an mp3 from Amarok. I don't hear anything from mpg123 o...
