Re: LM21 freezing daily

SMG wrote: Sun Sep 11, 2022 11:22 am Do you have that file? If so, does it have that same text in it?
Apparently I have that file

Code: Select all

/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla
and it has exactly the same text (checked it with diff command).

So I'm able to do it from the GUI.

How do you put your computer into hibernation mode?
I just use the menu in the GUI or the short cut combination CTRL+ALT+END and select the hybernate option.

Re: LM21 freezing daily

I know I did a change in the past like this in /etc/default/grub #GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="resume=UUID=3d70a780-d36f-43df-b057-6cdf1efe1da3 quiet splash" which is compatible with what is in /etc/fstab UUID=3d70a780-d36f-43df-b057-6cdf1...

Re: LM21 freezing daily

I found a pattern now in the freezing.

When I start my computer (from hybernate), it freezes in the first minutes, I then have to reboot using:
ALT+PrintScreen+R+E+I+S+U+B

After the reboot the freezing never happens anymore.

Re: falling back to half of memory

Hi,

A few months later I notice that my issue of having only half of the memory avalable is solved.
I couldn't exactly find what the problem was, but I think it was probably kernel related.
Running now on kernel 4.4.0-201-generic

Re: falling back to half of memory

I did a memory test with the for slots (4x4 => 16G) of more than 7 hours without errors.
Today I got 8G, I reboot I have 16G.

Is there something I can search for in dmesg?

Setting the BIOS on the default settings apparently did not help. I was back on 8G. Rebooting => back on 16G. This are the specs of the motherboard: sudo inxi -Mxx Machine: Mobo: ASUSTeK model: SABERTOOTH 990FX v: Rev 1.xx serial: MT7021006400730 Bios: American Megatrends v: 0901 date: 11/24/2011

[SOLVED] falling back to half of memory

Hello, I few months ago I extended my PC memory from 8G to 16G with Corsair 8 GB DDR3-1600 memory (CML8GX3M2A1600C9). Everything worked fine until now. From time to time, my PC falls back from 16G to 8G. Most of the time when I reboot, I have my 16G back. This is what I get as result of console comm...

dropped packets F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter v6000 [Realtek RTL8192SU]

Since a few days it's almost impossible for me to connect to the Internet wireless due to dropped packets. I guess it's software related cause other wireless devices don't have this problem. Some info. Linux Mint 17.3 architecture: x86_64 kernel: 3.19.0-32-generic wireless kernel module: r8712u ifco...

Re: [solved] softreset failed (1st FIS failed)

Apparently one of my hard disks failed and that was the reason of the slow boot.
Solved this issue by removing the disk.

[solved] softreset failed (1st FIS failed)

Hi, After doing a sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade I wasn't able to boot my PC. I had to manually select in my BIOS the disk to boot from. If I boot now the booting process is very slow and I always get the message 'detecting hard drives' first. Moreover I can't hybernate anymore....

Re: Wifi does not work after restoring from sleep mode

Do this:

detect your wirless module with the command:
sudo lshw -C network

add the following to the config file "/etc/pm/config.d/config"
SUSPEND_MODULES="r8712u"
(where "r8712u" is the name of your wireless module)

If you type

Re: Linux mint 14, 15 SSD unable to boot in AHCI mode

I changed my BIOS now to AHCI and oh wonder I can boot.
So it seemed I had to boot first in IDE and now I can boot in AHCI.
Still don't no why.
