Did you check that the iso file you used was a good download as that can be a problem.
It is always worth using a torrent client to download iso files as they check it as it's downloaded and get any faulty packets again.

Re: How do I know if I'm ready to permanently switch to Linux Mint?
most likely, when you no longer have an software that you need to use, - that is an Windows based software program - :) guess I need to quit buying Garmin GPS units then  I will always keep my laptops dual boot, with a 4TB drive, who cares anyway? I gave up using a dedicated external GPS, and ...

Re: When did you start to realize Linux will never become the future of desktop computing?
Yes, I've still got one using Debian Stable. It's a 32bit machine but even with that Debian version using openbox window manager rather than a full DE, it is still painfully slow and useless for any video viewing such as YouTube. Time I scrapped it really, but it will soon become antiquated and star...

Re: Update Manager suggests updates to me every day
I always disable update-notifier in the autostart list in my Xfce versions of every distro I use. I normally run sudo apt update as my first activity of any session, or very soon after that so I don't need anything to tell me to do it; I do it when I'm ready. I also use nothing other then the comman...

Re: What is the best Virtual App in Mint to have Windows in it?
I'm using KVM/QEMU on a 12 year old desktop machine with an Intel i5375k cpu and 8G ram.
The whole requirement was installed simply by running All else needed was installed with the one command making the process just the one step.
Try it yourself!

Re: What is the best Virtual App in Mint to have Windows in it?
There have been very few mentions in this thread of KVM/QEMU but as you are using a Linux host, ie Mint, I strongly recommend you look closely at using that as your hypervisor; it is, after all, the open source Kernel-Virtual-Machine system and in my experience is unbeatable. I tried it first about ...

Re: formatting external drives...renders them unusable???
I use Xfce not cinnamon and generally use the file manager to unmount a USB device, either with a right click on the device in thr left hand lane ot to eject it by clicking on the eject icon by the device. If it can't yet be unmounted or ejected a warning notification is shown giving you information...

Re: Stop Thunderbird from asking if I want to update
You may prefer to use version 102 of thunderbird but consider before continuing to do so whether it is secure to do so! There will be no more security updates for your email application if you continue with 102, and for an application that by design has to connect to the network, I would be very rel...

Re: USB memory stick not working
Memory sticks can fail quite suddenly for no obvious reason.
How old is yours and how much has it been used, in particular for writes, as that is what can wear them out more quickly than reading from them.
Does this failure happen both Mint and Windows?

Re: USB memory stick not working
After using the USB in Windows make sure you "Remove Safely" from the panel or it will not mount in Linux. Windows now uses faststart to speed up booting the system though thata means the system is in hibernation, not shutdown properly. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-disable-windows-10...

Re: Why is YouTube doing this now?
I am not seeing this "new" page either. I still get a selection of many videos of musicians I have watched in the past, not the same videos but different songs etc etc, along with videos about subjects that I have viewed in the past. I don't think I have ever subscribed to any channel on y...

Re: Deleting Unwanted Boot Order Items in Samsung Laptop BIOS
Are you asking about the grub menu, or more likely, the output of efibootmgr?
These are very different things and show very different boot options.
Give us more detail of what you are asking about and we may be able to give you more help without the possibility of making matters worse for you

Re: When did you start to realize Linux will never become the future of desktop computing?
<snip> As far as home users go, if someone sets up a computer for a user correctly, they may never need to touch the terminal ever or, at worst, type in a simple alias for the occasional command they may need. If people's first computers were Linux based, they probably would feel to intimidated by ...

Re: When did you start to realize Linux will never become the future of desktop computing?
<snip> Then for what ever reasons, Linux started getting less user-friendly. I now have to figure out missing packages and install them, or find and learn next-level config settings to make things work like they used to. Flatpak and similar bloatware are now getting pushed. Installs now tend to fai...

Re: can't write ISO image to USB
Some, if not all USB drives have a slide-switch on the side to make them read-only. Have you checked that? Have you used the USB prior to this problem for another OS installation? If so you may have to create a new partition-table using, for example, gparted as the USB may currently have a typical C...

Re: can't write ISO image to USB
Not enough information to help at the moment.
How is the USB formatted at present? It needs to be fat32.
What size is the USB? I think 4G is the minimum but it may need tobe even larger these days; 8G is the smallest i have.

Definitely not right!
Have you cleared all the cache from firefox?
Did you choose to copy everything in your firefox profile to vivaldi when you set up the second browser? That might have copied your card details across.
