Re: Live Disc wont Run
How exactly should i do the nomodeset thing. the way i did it was, at the menu select compatibility mode, press tab to edit, then type nomodeset then hit enter. Sounds right, at the Grub menu you did not have to select compatibility - just press tab, towards the bottom of the screen there is a line...

Re: Live Disc wont Run
One expedient might be to swap out the video card (you *do* have a couple of spare ones in a cupboard, right?) No, if i had another card it would be older than this one  You have of course by now spent many happy hours searching these forums and the wider web on problems to do with your curren...

Re: Comp hangs with blinking cursor, needs compatibility mod
I was trying to install on an older computer and it kept reaching the menu but failed to load the desktop. Then I selected "Start in compatibility mode" and it worked. Now I'm curious, what does this mode do and is it specific to Mint? Thanks This is happening to me too with the debian on...

No joy for me, the live disc runs at work on a new ish pc, but not at home on my 7 year old heap, it wont boot up, it gets past all the scrolling text then stops with a black screen and a static cursor in the top left corner, i thought i would try debian itself so i did a net install, all went well ...

Re: Remove Dual Boot Menu
Which version of grub is installed, the Mint version or the Debian one? If mint then all you should need to do is delete the Debian installation and run sudo update-grub as grub2 autodetects installed OSes. If you need to reinstall the mint grub see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Reinstall...

Re: Mint Debian
I've just downloaded mint debian and tried it live, and it runs great, realy fast and snappy, so my question is, is it ok to dual boot it with mint 9, i have a spare drive on this machine and i dont want to wipe my main system just yet.
