19.1 Cinnamon clunky and freezing
I knew I should have waited, and stayed with 19,0 This new Cinnamon 4.0 is reminding me of the issues-of-old Cinnamon, with clunky loading/freezing issues. Boot up Mint 19.1 Google chrome browser, (loaded fine on Mint 19), but now freezes on 19.1. You have to click a second time to get the page to l...

Re: Mint 19 Cinnamaon Synaptic Issue
Hello karlchen.
Yes, I guess I meant update manager, not synaptic. I did not mean nor try to irritate anyone with my posting.
Here are my screenshots

Re: Mint 19 Cinnamaon Synaptic Issue
Thank you for your reply.
My thought was that I'd like to see the available new kernel in synaptic, but not have it automatically selected for immediate installation. (like kernel 4.15.0-24 for example).
I'd like to "see" it first, then choose IF I want to install it.

Hard to Read -- Why Are the Letters Gray instead of Black
I thought is was my eyesight playing tricks on me, but no, it isn't. Mint 19 Cinnamon now has gray (or grey) letter fonts by default, instead of the black letters (fonts) used in Mint 18.3. The light contrast of the gray/grey fonts in Mint 19 succeeds in producing hard-to-read screens for me. And, a...

Re: Night Light
The only problem is that I can't get Redshift to work in Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 64 bit. Seems that it worked at one time in the past, but not now. Many others on Google saying they have the same problem -- doesn't work in Linuxmint (posts from 2016) That's why I'm hopeful it could be a inclusion in 18.3...

Night Light
I've been using Mint for many years now, and considered to be a died-in-the-wool user. With that said, I've just played around with the new release Ubuntu-Budgie 17.10. What I've come to instantly love is the night light feature. Gimmick? I don't know, but I know what I like. I've had night light en...

Mockturl Weather Applet Problem - Update
My weather applet has a mind of its own. I've updated it, and when I restart the PC, it does not remember the correct day, nor the correct temperature. The days are out of sequence. Today is Sunday. My weather app says Tuesday. But, surprisingly it does remember the correct (city) location. If I re-...

Re: Google Chrome 44 freezing 17.2 Cinnamon
Thanks!
As a reply, and and an update...
I did not have this issue with my Mint 17.2 Cinnamon laptop.
It appears to be a "hit-or-miss" with the user's pc hardware configuration.

Google Chrome 44 freezing 17.2 Cinnamon
Google Chrome Version 44.0.2403.89 (64-bit) upgrade released today.
It froze my desktop installation of Mint 17.2 (cinnamon 2.6.13) 64 bit.
The fix for me was to go to Google Chrome Settings / Advanced Settings, and untick the hardware acceleration box.
Now it's working fine....whew!

Do Linux pcs Slow down with time like Windows pcs?
Seems like a silly question at first... But, Does a Linux Mint pc (in a family environment) slow down over time ( 12-18 months) like a Windows 7 pc would, if it was in the same environment? I have a person who is telling me that his has slowed, so I'm wondering why it might do that? Where to look fi...

Bug: Can't Edit Startup Application Preferences Mint 17.1 C
Mint 17.1 Cinnamon 64 bit
Background:
Menu / Startup Applications / Preferences
I <edit> my Dropbox program from 0 (zero) to a 30 sceond delay, and click <save>.
It works only ONE TIME and thereafter reverts to 0 (zero) on the next boot.
Needs to be addressed.

Re: What's up with Dropbox icon on Rebecca ---really cheesy!
Another thought:
NVIDIA releated update made the change.
Here's the display of dropbox from my AMD 64 laptop, with the same updates of my nvidia desktop (but minus the nvidia 331.113).

Re: What's up with Dropbox icon on Rebecca ---really cheesy!
I haven't seen a dropbox update, but I have seen a mint update, on 12/13, and a mint-meta-cinnamon update on 12/9...
Perhaps one of those made the change .....

Re: problem installing 17.1 rebeca on hp pavilion d6000 lapt
not on my pavilion 6000.
Must be a download error. My hp pavlion 6000 m17.1 cinn install works perfectiy.
I admit its tricky going through the nvidia install, but mine really works fine.

Re: Update with exclamation point!
Yeah, I'm not a moderator...okay But you have 2 ways to accomplish this task. WAIT a couple days, as Clem originally wrote in his blog...< PREFFERED> OR go off the path above and attempt it on your own. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. Simple... I did ithe upgrade "old school" via apt. Experienced ...
