Thanks. I have tried the following
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update

I still get the above errors.

Sound stopped working suddently

I am using LinuxMint (based on Ubuntu 10.04) When I installed everything was ok. I installed additional packages skype, chrome browser, flash player etc I noticed my sound stopped working suddenly.
