LM 18 XFCE - Update Manager "OK" Button (Solution)

More a general tip than a LM specific issue.

Use Alt-F7 to move the update window, if after installing LM 18 XFCE/64 in VirtualBox (5.1) the initial Update Manager "OK" button is not accessible on the screen.

Re: Mint 18, WiFi won't connect

Hello Flightmaker

I've had a similar sounding problem. I'm not in front of a Mint computer now so I can't be specific but the fix in my situation was to go into the Network Manager, edit the profile for the wireless access point in question, and enter the password there. Hope that helps.

Re: Linux Mint 17 "Xfce"

Hello. Here is a method that works for me. Start > All > Panel > Items Tab > Click on "DateTime" (on the left) 1x so it's highlighted > Click on small button "edit the currently selected item" on the right. Note if you hold the cursor over the button without clicking the definition of the button wil...

Re: Trying to intall, but drive not recognized

@jps286 If I'm totally off, just ignore this post. Occassionally, I have a situation with USB flash drives that won't work (or stop working) on my linux system when the format of the drive is changed. When this happens the one consistent process that always works is going back to a Windows machine a...

Re: Trying to intall, but drive not recognized

@jps286
Now I have a new 500 GB SATA drive, which I'm trying to use in the exact same way.
For my clarity, so you have two hard drives in the system, the new 500GB drive is the slave, the old original drive is the master?

Re: Disable Slideshow on Login Window and Set Static Image

Hi Oxnak,

I believe it should be possible to disable the slideshow at login. Look here at the slideshow.conf file:

/usr/share/mdm/html-themes/Mint-X/slideshow.conf

and experiment. For example, try changing line "shuffle=true" to "shuffle=false"

Re: No feedback with GUI installation tool

Hi Transistorfips, When I download/install software from a website similar as I was used to do as on a Windows machine a windows pops up, asking me for sudo and that's it. No feedback if the download/install process commenced. Why is that? Let me try to help with the downloading part. There is a dow...

Re: Fonts displaying too small after cache cleared

Hi HerzeleidMeister,
I also have a problem with fonts. Until I find a fix for the problem I've been using the FireFox plugin - NoSquint by Jason Tackaberry. It allows for site-specific text zooming and more. Maybe this can help in your situation.

Re: Dropbox won't work with Mint 17.1

From a terminal type dropbox --help These commands have helped with troubleshooting. Occasionally the Dropbox icon won't show in my panel tray (Mint 17.1 XFCE/64) but to verify it's working, from a terminal I use the command: dropbox status or dropbox running (note: sometimes this command doesn't wo...

Re: Unresponsive or locked CD/DVD drive

Hi Ncc1701e, I don't have exact answers but maybe this can get you started. I Googled the phrase "ubuntu CD won't eject" and "mint CD won't eject" and here's one link from the results: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2165355 The link above also makes reference to this behavior as a known bu...

Hi Moginn, I have no experience with DNSCrypt but I was curious so I did a little searching. The link below is from AskUbuntu and talks about DNSCrypt for Ubuntu 14.04 which is what I'm pretty sure Qiana is based on. Hopefully this will help or at least get you started with more information. http://...

Re: Adobe Flash Plugin not up to date

@Chzuck Strange, it only just now showed up in the updater. I had 11.2.202.440 installed and had checked the updater this morning for updates and there were none. It's possible that the repository server wasn't updated when you first looked for updates. Update server/mirror locations can be adjusted...

Re: Adobe Flash Plugin not up to date

@Graymatterloss How important is it to refresh the update manager? I think that until the update manager is reloaded(refreshed) with new repository information it will not be able to offer any new updates. So I would would say it is fairly important. Should we do this weekly? Daily? Opinions probabl...

Re: Adobe Flash Plugin not up to date

Hi Chzuck, Adobe Flash Player plugin is out of date in Firefox running in Mint 17.1. What version are you referring to? The current "updated" (ie supported) version for Linux is 11.2.202.442. This can be verified here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ How can I update it as it is not allow...

Firefox 3.6.15 Crash

Hello and good day to all. Have you been experiencing more Firefox crashes than average? I've experienced Firefox (3.6.15) crash more in the past week than in the previous year. I first noticed this in LinuxMint 10 (Gnome edition, 32bit). The crash frequency is approximately 2-4x/hour. Hardware: Del...
