Linux Mint 20 64 bit and Mozilla Firefox Quantum

I have done a search on this forum, but I want to let the community know that I installed Linux Mint 20.04.0 64 bit "Ulyana" GNU/Linux bare metal on my mid-2018 Huawei Matebook X Pro ultrabook and the desktop operating system itself is just fine. Whenever I open Mozilla Firefox Quantum version 77 64...

Linux Mint 19 64 bit Cinnamon: nemo-seahorse (context menu missing)

I installed Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" Cinnamon, MATE, and XFCE desktop environments and I primarily use Cinnamon. I installed the nemo-seahorse software package and I logged out and logged back into each gaming PC that I own. I do not see the context menu within the Nemo file manager for GnuPG t...

Ubuntu Kernel Update Utility: Upgrading Linux Kernel causes Cinnamon & MATE to malfunction

I installed Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" on my three gaming PCs: 1. mid-2017 AVA Direct, 2. mid-2017 ASUS ROG STRIX GL702ZC and 3. Acer Predator 17X (GX-791). I installed the Ubuntu Kernel Update Utility and last night I selected Linux kernel 4.18.0 64 bit on my 2017 gaming PCs. It installed correc...

Re: Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 32 bit

It worked. I now see my Windows Applications and my CrossOver bottle titles in my Cinnamon menu. This is solved.

Re: Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 32 bit

Is it safe to change the ownership and permissions of my /home/wellywu/.local/share/applications? I was thinking about doing this: sudo chown -R wellywu:wellywu /home/wellywu/.local/share/applications sudo chmod -R 0755 /home/wellywu/.local/share/applications To be followed by these commands in the ...

Re: Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 32 bit

Codeweavers is stuck at trying to figure out how to solve this problem that is reproducible on my three gaming PCs running Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara."

Is there anything that this community can do to help me? I want to be able to see my Windows Applications in my Cinnamon, MATE, and XFCE menus.

Re: Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 32 bit

Codeweavers told me that they can't reproduce this issue in Linux Mint 19 thus they can't fix it yet. First, they told me to do this BEFORE I installed Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 (32 bit): sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 wget -qO- https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/Release.key | sudo apt-key add ...

JRiver Media Center 24 keeps crashing

I created a thread in the JRiver Interact forum. I installed Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" on my mid-2016 Acer Predator 17X (GX-791) gaming notebook PC late last night and I installed JRiver Media Center 24 Master License for GNU/Linux. When I run the software product and I try to import my private ...

Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 32 bit

I own a mid-2016 Acer Predator 17X (GX-791) gaming notebook PC and I installed Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" on it successfully. I purchased Codeweavers CrossOver for both Apple MacOS and GNU/Linux and I installed and unlocked version 17.5.0 32 bit for Debian and Ubuntu based GNU/Linux version succe...

Re: Any GNU/Linux audiophiles here?

The cost of an audiophile headphone system is a fraction of the cost of a traditional stereo system especially if you shop for used gear on Audiogon or if you buy and sell components at Head-Fi.Org or other places. Most of the time, I buy my audio components used or second hand in good condition fro...

Re: Any GNU/Linux audiophiles here?

I understand that. I still download ALAC, APE, FLAC, WAV, and other lossless audio codec albums and I transcode them to LAME MP3 VBR V0 or AAC 320 kbps bit rate most of the time. Most of the time, I have a hard time distinguishing between lossless and lossy audio codecs so I go with the lossy audio ...

Re: Any GNU/Linux audiophiles here?

I got a lot of criticism on audiophile forums in the past for championing lossy audio codecs, but I still choose to transcode lossless audio codecs to lossy audio codecs to save as much disk space as possible. My preferred lossy audio codec is LAME MP3 variable bit rate V0 preset quality. To my ears...

Re: Any GNU/Linux audiophiles here?

Right now, Spotify is having a spring and summer sale whereby they are selling three months of their Spotify Premium service for just $0.99 USD. I just subscribed for $1.06 USD for three months of Spotify Premium service. I enabled high quality streaming and I am listening to Lifehouse's Smoke & Mir...

Re: A Difficult Decision (Windows games)

I switched to Ubuntu 14.04.2 64 bit LTS GNU/Linux on my Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P notebook PC several months ago and I ditched Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional with Media Center Update 64 bit permanently. I still purchase quite a number of Humble Bundle and SteamOS + GNU/Linux PC games and I find that ...

Re: Any GNU/Linux audiophiles here?

I forgot to ask what do you like most about your music and audio system? For me, I love my music collection especially the Chinese classical music and original motion picture soundtracks the most. There is a rich cultural history in China. As for my audio system, I love the fact that it is portable ...

Any GNU/Linux audiophiles here?

I did a brief search here, but I did not find a thread about fellow GNU/Linux audiophiles yet. So, I decided to create my own here. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P notebook PC and I use Ubuntu 14.04.2 64 bit LTS GNU/Linux. My software music player of choice is Banshee although I have tried Clementine,...

I just got both Wasteland 1 and Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe Edition from the Humble Bundle Store on sale. I've wanted both of these SteamOS + GNU/Linux PC games for quite some time. Tomorrow night, I will get Van Helsing III from Steam.
