Re: Install three systems with uefi.

Thank you for the quick response. I thought that might be true of the boot loader but was unable to verify it until now. I think all three have grub2 but I will double check and I had read something about upgrading and will recheck on that as well. I will attempt to resize the boot partition when I ...

Re: Mint 18 MATE - Wifi not working

I switched to an older router 3 or 4 months ago and was unable to connect to my wifi as well. My router was in another room 100 feet away so I really had to have it. I ended up taking my laptop to the other room and plugging into the router, entering the router and manually inserting my computer inf...

SOLVED-Install three systems with uefi.

I want to install three Linux OS on to my UEFI laptop that is running Linux Mint 18 and no windows currently. Before I re-partition my hhd I wanted to know where /boot from the additional systems go to. Are they added to the UEFI sector like the first one? If not where? Also if they do go into the U...

Many Broken Pkgs In Synaptic

Fresh install of 201108 rc. Synaptic has numerous broken pkgs. Tried fix broken packages, update & upgrade, etc numerous times with no results.
I have not changed any sources from the install either. Does this respin just need more time to get the kinks out or is there a problem I'm unaware of?

Re: LMDE: A Great Disappointment <Decision Time>

Just wanted to say several things. 1. It does not take an advanced computer, linux superuser to run this system. I believe it to be newbie friendly. See how many new entries are listed in the forum during a four hour period as compared to Ubuntu for the same amount of time. 2. I have not seen any at...

Re: Removing Older Kernels (SOLVED)

Thanks for the tip, I had somehow logged into 2.6.32-5-amd64 instead of 2.6.38.2-amd64 2.6.38.3.

Re: Removing Older Kernels

Tried synaptic and got the following error msg: E: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1. Removing Older Kernels (SOLVED)

I checked Google for info on removing older kernels from Debian systems. Most of what I found was dated material. Two recent entries included: http://stoilis.wordpress.com/2010/06/18/automatically-remove-old-kernels-from-debian-based-distributions/ which showcased the following script to remove old ...

LMDE Makes Me Happy!

As the title says, LMDE makes me happy. I have been searching for an Ubuntu replacement and when the 64 bit version of LMDE came out I made my pick. It installed easily and detected all hardware. No problems.
I can't figure out where Ubuntu is going, I just don't want to go with them. :D
