Might be an issue with the wireless card on the netbook. I restored netbook with factory installed software.

The wireless card has a red x on it. I am unable to enable it with fn+f2 switch.

What if I don't see the grub screen? Is there a way to have that come up on start or see what it is in a terminal window.

She would not know if there ws a Kernel update. How do u boot into a previous kernel.

Still no wireless. starting to think maybe the wireless card went bad.

The key combo to enable disable the wireless is fn +f2. It is a Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 .

Does Linux Mint 11 have an application similar to dvd shrink and dvd fab.

One that will shrink the size of the dvd rip so that one can load the image onto a regular dvd instead of

having to get dual layer dvd's.

I am wondering if someone can explain to me why some wireless chipsets work right after install and some like the Atheros
chipsets are disabled by a software switch. I couldn't get mine to work before I modified a file.

Thank you very much. It is working now. The fn + f3 keys work perfect now.

It detects the wireless networks in area too.
