Re: Nvidia Drivers prevent login screen loading

OK so after installing LM from scratch again, I see that it was possible to install LM's default kernel 5.4 and subsequently install the Nvidia driver, restart, login and even access the Nvidia settings, and menu options, even though the drivers were not actually active. Following your suggestion, i...

Nvidia Drivers prevent login screen loading [SOLVED]

Hello This is a fresh install of LM with all the updates done and then a timeshift restore point created. The first time I used the Driver Manager to to install the recommended Nvidia drivers v 470, the system restarted and went to login screen without issue. But then I decided to use the Nvidia mod...

LM20 NVIDIA 450.80.02 drivers not running [SOLVED]

I solved it while you were writing your last reply. Given there was a blacklisting I searched for places where Nvidia might be "blacklisted", https://askubuntu.com/a/1242094/187012 and removed the file /lib/modprobe.d/blacklist-nvidia.conf rebooted and now Nvidia is working ! cat /var/log/...

Re: LM20 NVIDIA 450.80.02 drivers not running

Hello SMG you are also not getting a "No hardware acceleration" message I've not seen that message so far. As requested I've installed 450 via Driver Manager and rebooted then: cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | nc termbin.com 9999 https://termbin.com/0j47 and inxi -SMCGx System: Host: tim-Precisio...

Re: LM20 NVIDIA 450.80.02 drivers not running

So I discovered that Driver Manager does not do its job as expected, ie does not remove all the installed files. To solve this I had to install via Device Manager and then remove via Terminal: sudo apt purge nvidia-driver-390 sudo apt purge nvidia-driver-450 sudo apt purge nvidia-driver-455 then sud...

Re: LM20 NVIDIA 450.80.02 drivers not running

Hello SMG Thank you for participating in this issue. "no hardware acceleration" My boot sequence does not exhibit this message or one like it. NVIDIA lists 450 as the latest driver for this card, it is also listed as the LTS driver. 455 does not list this as a supported card and is also no...

LM20 NVIDIA 450.80.02 drivers not running

Hello In the past this system has had NVIDIA drivers working and editable NVIDIA Settings. Recently I discovered that the drivers are no longer running, since not visible in NVIDIA Settings any longer, but have no idea how/when that happened and don't have an old enough Timeshift to revert to. I've ...

Re: How to discover bluetooth channel ?

Thanks for the explanation.

In the end I had to use a WiFi extender that I could configure to run at 5GHz and force my laptop to only connect at 5GHz, allowing BT to use 2.4GHz unhindered.

Re: How to discover bluetooth channel ?

Does anyone know how I can get a BT speaker to work simultaneously with Wi-Fi ?

If not, and this is a bug, where should I submit it ?

Thanks

Re: How to discover bluetooth channel ?

@smurphos Hmm, no I don't think I see any channel info there. I noticed that this is a bit of a Linux issue in general, since Windows drivers manage to deal with it. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth_headset#Connecting_works,_but_there_are_sound_glitches_all_the_time Prior to LM20 kerne...

Sure.

Do you happen to know how to discover which channel Bluetooth is currently running on ?

Re: How to discover bluetooth channel ?

@smurphos I tried them all. sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-opt.conf <<< "options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=N" reboot result: even more intermittent Wi-Fi connection whilst BT speaker was functioning I removed the file. sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-opt.conf Then tried the following answer...

Re: How to discover bluetooth channel ?

@smurphos Thank you for your support and pointing me to the SE post. The solutions provided appear to be for Ubuntu versions 14, 16 and 18. So I took a look at the file /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf The content indicates that iwlwif is removed and load either iwldvm or iwlmvm dynamically: # /etc/modp...

@smurphos Thank you for your support. Kernel error for iwlwifi

If I do:

Code: Select all

sudo journalctl -p 3 -xb
I get:

Code: Select all

kernel: iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Invalid rate->type 0
Whilst I'm trying to resolve other networking issues, I would like to remove this error from the equation.

Has anyone experienced this and come to a conclusion ?

How to discover bluetooth channel ?

Hello Just upgraded to LM20. The only issue I've encountered is that my Wi-Fi drops when watching a video using a Bluetooth speaker. The Wi-Fi router can only deliver 2.4Ghz, so I can't put my Wi-Fi connection on 5Ghz whilst Bluetooth operates on 2.4Ghz I presumed that I could try putting the Wi-Fi ...

Thank you, I was able to run that command once I figured out how to configure the journal to be persistent. sudo mkdir -p /var/log/journal sudo nano /etc/systemd/journald.conf and add to the file: Storage=persistent Is there a way to copy the output to a file for a compare ?
