Re: 18 Xfce Debug Slow Shutdown
Thank you, I was able to run that command once I figured out how to configure the journal to be persistent. sudo mkdir -p /var/log/journal sudo nano /etc/systemd/journald.conf and add to the file: Storage=persistent Is there a way to copy the output to a file for a compare ? If I select all, copy th...

So I posted the bug here:

Re: 18 Xfce Major Security Bug Hibernate + Suspend Don't Lock Screen
Hey richyrich
No. The Xfce Power Manager system tray icon displays no option for Hibernation / Suspend.
Such an option wouldn't resolve the major security bug that appears to be built into the Menu.
Is this a known bug ? Where does one post such a bug ?

18 Xfce Major Security Bug Hibernate + Suspend Don't Lock Screen
Hello Whilst Hibernate and Suspend function, they do not lock the desktop screen even though in Xfce Power Manager > System > "Lock screen when system is going for sleep" is checked. I reproduce the unexpected behaviour by launching the Menu > Log Out > Suspend / Hibernate Returning from Hibernate o...

Upgrade 17.3 to 18 Xfce Duplicate Menu Entries [SOLVED]
Hello After performing an upgrade from 17.3 to 18 Xfce I have a more stable OS. However there are some duplicated entries in the menu. The entries may have same or different icon, label and description, but each loading the same application. File Manager File Manager File Manager > loads Thunar 1.6....

Re: OOPS -- UNSOLVED: Wired Internet Stopped Working in 17.3
Hello I am having similar behaviour. Unfortunately I have one of those new stupid laptops that doesn't have a Ethernet port. Main reason I guess is because the port would ruin it's lovely thin dimensions. So I have a USB 3 Type A > 3xUSB + 1xEthernet port hub. KY-688 plugged in. If I boot into Windo...

Re: How to Bypass nVidia PowerMizer and Adaptive Clocking
Excellent. Thank you. Setting to max not only helps with gfx intensive tasks, but also prevents system crashes on my system. I originally had this experience in Win7 and had to set nvidia powermizer do the same there to prevent occassional system crashes that occured during clock switches. Very glad...

Re: One time only wired ethernet connection
After disconnecting and then reconnecting the cable, does reloading the module help? sudo modprobe -r e1000e ; sudo modprobe e1000e I also appear to have this issue. I can only get an ethernet connection if the cable is plugged during boot. If I unplug then plugin again the connection is not ressum...

Re: BCM4322 with airodump-ng (which driver/firmware to use ?
It's true I'm new to aircrack-ng but as I understand it "Aircrack-ng is a set of tools for auditing wireless networks." With aircrack-ng I should be able to ingest packets previously gained from using airodump to discover a WEP key or use various forms of attack to discover a WPA key for a wireless ...

Re: BCM4322 with airodump-ng (which driver/firmware to use ?
Furthermore Whilst following this instruction for installing b43 drivers in place of STA https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx#b43%20-%20Internet%20access I discovered that in Synaptic the drivers listed in the current repository did not actually support this card even though it ...

Re: Correct Size Swap + Hibernate Does Not Thaw Bug
Seems there were no more updates on that bug report thread.
So I'm none the wiser.
I've kind of given up on hibernate, though I would like to have seen it in action to compare with windows.

None of this worked for me.
Then Julia came along and sorted me out.
All good now.

Re: BCM4322 with airodump-ng (which driver/firmware to use ?
Hello casey972oo Very bizzare post of yours. Yes I have the STA drivers installed, and yes my wireless card works. That is not what the post is about. I am interested in getting Monitor Mode working so that I can use airodump-ng and also aircrack-ng so that I can test my wireless router. However, ac...
