Hi
Thank you very much for the info!

There are heaps of applets there to choose from - I should be able to find something to suit!

Cheers

(previous happy user of Mint 9) 1) As you can see from the screenshot, there is a quick-access sort of panel thing on the very left of the menu. How can I make this disappear? 2) Not so important, but curious - if I load Mint...

(nice GUI, features etc) If you look at realterm's page: http://realterm.sourceforge.net/ and scroll down to the first screenshot - you will see what I like about it - the ability to show incoming characters in many ...

yes | aspell whatever That is brilliant! In case anybody searches the forum in the future... aspell wants you to type in a "1" to accept the first suggestion. Luckily, yes offers the option to output 1's instead of y's. so: yes 1 | aspell check file.txt Thanks for your help! Pete

Re: Poor display of GIFs in web pages

If I open a jpg in gimp, and save it as a GIF, it looks fine.

It's only GIFs from web pages that are the problem.

Is that a clue for anyone?

Thanks!

Re: Poor display of GIFs in web pages

Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear, there.

Those 2 pictures are photographs I took of my screen with a camera, to show how bad the GIFs look to my eye.

They are then posted on my flickr account for you all to see and offer suggestions

Thanks

Poor display of GIFs in web pages

Hi Gurus... As you can probably tell from the title, I seem to have a problem with the display of GIF images. You can see from these sample pics, GIFs are spotty and low quality. Awesome, it was the little "-s" that made all the difference!

I do mount it with fstab, don't know why it didn't show up.

Thanks for the tip!

Symbolic Link for shortcut to desktop?

Hi I have a FAT32 partition, which is mounted as /media/DATA I would like to have an icon for it on the desktop, so I can access it easily. In the windows world, this would be called a shortcut to desktop. I have tried: Right-click on the DATA folder and select 'create symlink' - nothing happens, no...

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the app (or it's website) has been updated for a couple of years.

I would still love to hear any suggestions for a linux scrabble program.

Thanks
