Re: Packages not showing up.

Somewhat solved.

Not sure what did it though. Clicked pretty much everything in the 'software sources' manger to see what it would do. Changed mirrors, used some apt-get update.

If anyone wants to way in on what actually fixed it I'd be super interested.

Packages not showing up.

Hi all, Am trying to install SuperTuxKart or similar games for my son, but software manager shows 0 (zero) racing and simulation games. Also no FPS, Emulators and 5 board games. I've checked my sources, updated the cache, and still nothing. I've added the TOR PPA, and since disabled it to see if tha...

Re: Error Mounting Filesystem

Hi ROTL, I can't say for certain, but here's my guess about what's happening. The filesystem on your external drive isn't natively supported by linux. You essentially need the equivalent of a driver in order for linux to know how to read/write to the disk. The file that you need can be found in the ...

Re: Linux Mint E17

I guess it wold be different, and I'm not accusing you of trying to cut in on bodhis share... sorry if it seemed that way. I just didn't want you to duplicate something that's already been done. I guess the big difference would depend on what version of mint you based it on. Also, default access to ...

Re: Linux Mint E17

If you were to remove all the mint packages, wouldn't you end up with Bodhi?

Re-namaing the packages would allow all of the mint tools and other goodies, but an E17 DE, right?

Re: Is this KDE 4.0 tut still valid?

WOW, that was really good. It's ridiculously hard to find stuff like this sometimes.

I just downloaded some isos to play with and I'm really liking KDE.
Now I just need to figure out why Kubuntu live disk works but mintKDE doesn't...

Is this KDE 4.0 tut still valid?

Hi all, Just wondering if it's still possible to do all the things mentioned here, In later releases, particularly the use of the "Present Windows" effect. http://www.kde.org/announcements/4.0/desktop.php I'm an alt tab kinda guy. When I'm not typing I like to have one hand on the ctrl-alt...

Everytime I try to use totem it would crash.

I uninstalled it and use Gnome Mplayer as default.

Also, what window manager ARE you using?

Re: kubuntu-desktop

It will install the Kubuntu desktop which I'm fairly sure mintKDE is based upon. Kubuntu 'optimise' the KDE desktop to work with ubuntu base. Mint KDE further tweak it, to make mint KDE Lauren's method will install the KDE desktop, on top on mint so you'll have a lot of Mint features availible. But ...

Re: Replacing GIMP

I can understand the natural fight against feature bloat, and the desire to keep the disk image small. On the other hand, an 825Mb DVD (for Mint 10 -64 gnome) seems like a waste of space. There's plenty of stuff that people think should be on the disk, because they find it useful for their niche. A ...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Damn...

KDE also worked with my Netgear Dongle straight off the bat.
Plus it generally seems more polished than Gnome 2, with more bugs iron out than gnome 3....
Now I just have to convince my wife to let me change DEs AGAIN.

Are you kidding me you can't say 'c-r-a-p' on here, confused censorship?

Re: Different Wallpaper for the 4 sides of the Cube.

I think Mint must ship with a stripped down version of compiz. Probably done upstream at Ubuntu. The compiz fusion website lists a lot of plugins that I don't have, including 'wallpaper' and 'grid', and I'm pretty sure it says that it ships with emerald, which I also had to install separately (thoug...
