Re: about alt-f2
That did not answer my question. Alt-f2 works for me, but I am wondering if there was a feature that was implemented such that you can type in the program name and it will also list the suggestions similarly to KDE. I remember in Gnome 2, the command will auto-complete itself which was also useful

about alt-f2
There does not seem to be any program suggestions when I type my command with the Alt-F2 feature. Anyone know if this feature even implemented in gnome-shell or cinnamon?

i accidentally did an upgrade instead of dist-upgrade
So I accidentally did an upgrade instead of a dist-upgrade when I went from 4.6 to 4.6.1. I did a dist-upgrade right afterward. I am wondering if this is safe? I noticed that ever since I upgraded, I am getting a "Write failed broken pipe" error whenever I am using ssh. I am not sure if th...

Wait... so I need to do a dist-upgrade in order to properly update to 4.6.1? I thought that is only for upgrading to different version of the same distro

Re: KDE i386 v AMD64
Since there are no instructions that actually uses all of the 64 bits, the architecture can use the unused bits for error checking and security. However this is only speculation. Rule of thumb is, if you use 4 Gigs or more of memory, then use a 64-bit OS. Else you're fine with a 32-bit OS. There see...

Re: KDE 10 RC - won't wake from sleep
I actually have the opposite problem. I cannot sleep, but this goes with every single distro I have used.

task bar not transparent unless effects are restarted
For some reason on every logon, I would need to pause my desktop effects and then resume it to get my taskbar to become transparent. Is anyone else having this problem? I tried switching from OpenGL to XRender, but the same problem occurs after a restart.

Re: Font issues with GTK apps
Can you elaborate more on changing the system font settings and the browser's setting? I have installed the msfonts and the fonts look really off still.

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE
I have no idea why, but my taskbar panel transparency effect turns on if I go to Desktop Effect and clicked on suspend desktop effect and then resume it. Seems like I need to restart plasma for it to work. I need to do this on everyone bootup, any ideas?

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE
Exploder is right. Due to many factors such as impurities, it is very difficult to create two hardware of the same model perform exactly the same. This is why on every release of new drivers, you will see some people complain about it not working well and some people say it is the best driver that t...

I will not install Kubuntu again or Ubuntu as both have given that same problem i will wait patiently for Mint and see what happens, i would rather spend time fixing the problem with Mint than any other distro, Mint has been my distro of ...

how come lmde doesn't have latest software
Since LMDE is a rolling release distro, shouldn't it have the latest version of all of the software it its repository? For example, the gnome-terminal used in LMDE is version 2.30.2 whereas the gnome-terminal in LM10 is 2.32. Unless the rolling nature of the distro only apply to the internals of the...

Where are you guys getting the new ISO? It has not been released yet. # Clem Says: December 30th, 2010 at 9:26 pm I forgot to mention three important things: - Please do not download the ISO until it is officially announced (We’ll be releasing 201101 shortly but it’s not available yet. Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE
... The new KDE can be upgraded even in the KDE-Mint-9 as I did mentioned above... I was under the impression that and upgrade from KDE 4.4 to 4.5 is not the same as a preinstalled KDE 4.5 in a release. The stability of the preinstalled would be a lot better than the upgrade unless I am mist...
