Re: I can't play .mkv on VLC

What should I install to be able to play .mkv files on VLC? I got this discouraging error: No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "h264". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this. Is there actually no way to fix this? I can hear the audio but no video. A...

Re: LMDE based on sid

Not quite; Testing is also qualified as a rolling release distro, it's just that updates take a bit more time to trickle down from Unstable to Testing. You'd always be a bit behind Unstable in terms of cutting-edge-ness, but you'll be able to run Testing for an indefinite amount of time without hav...

Re: Are the Debian update servers really slow?

Same problem here with LMDE. Downloading a file, thru http reached up to 200kb/s rate (just to test my speed). But with updating LMDE, download rate is only about 15kb/s. :( @update Now, my download rate is only 8kB/s :( I changed server, and still the same. I choose "Select best Server" and still t...

I got used with empathy in Ubuntu.

I tried to install it in Mint but no Yahoo/MSN chat support. Don't know what other packages to install to make it work like it was in Ubuntu.

Re: Config Transfer From PCLinuxOS to Linux Mint (All Editio

I've just tested the Final release of LM10 and for some reason, it now works on LM10. Guess I'll stick with LM10. No overlapping. There are some issues though after installing proprietary driver, like, fonts seems to not very clear (it's like it lacks sharpness, as in sharpness in TV). Text's seems ...

Re: Config Transfer From PCLinuxOS to Linux Mint (All Editio

Guess I'll stay with PCLOS for now as it's what's been working with my monitor. Can't install nvidia anymore, not even with sgfxi. Last time I installed LMDE then sgfxi, everything went smooth installing. The only problem is the resolution. This time, after installing and updating LMDE, i tried to i...

Re: Config Transfer From PCLinuxOS to Linux Mint (All Editio

I will try to copy the xorg.conf form PCLOS to LMDE/LM10 and see how it goes. :)
But for now, I have to remove PCLOS again and install Mint

Config Transfer From PCLinuxOS to Linux Mint (All Editions)

I was wondering what config files should I transfer from PCLinuxOS to Linux Mint (regarding of Editions). I have similar problems with all Linux Mint Editions (LMDE/Ubuntu based) when It comes to detecting and configuring my monitor, but not on PCLinuxOS. With Linux Mint (also applies to Ubuntu), my...

Nope. Their last version was 1.1.42. Maybe the maintainer stops working on it? I don't know. But it's very outdated, even in sid.

Re: Is this potentially dangerous?

I'm not sure. But if you're in dual-boot with windows, then grub should be installed in the MBR.

Probably, you choose something like /dev/sda1 instead of /dev/sda
/dev/sda = installs on MBR
/dev/sda1 = installs on the first partition.
