update-grub

Hello, I have a quick question. I have deleted a partition on my hard drive and needed to update grub so that it would remove that linux install from the list. I was pretty sure I knew how to do that, so in the terminal I ran sudo update-grub. I've done this before and I don't remember having to do ...

Re: Failed to fetch

I remembered why I added the repo. It was to get emerald. Here is the original posting by ikey that got me to add it.

Re: Failed to fetch

I would suspect it means that you've enabled a repo that no longer exists, or added it to your /etc/apt/sources.list file. I opened mint update and got an error.. Mod: Edited for foul-language content.. I have to say this is by far the most unneccessary post I have ever seen and I don't know why yo...

Re: Can we improve MintUpdate?

I have had LMDE installed since the first Sept release. I upgraded to the Sid repositories in December, but then changed back to testing in January. I have two diffrent kernals one with n-vidia drivers and one stock as a backup. I have always used Mintupdate to update my system, even when I switched...

Re: Debian 6 Squeeze enters "Deep Freeze"

Craig, I use level 3 updates for my day to day updates. About once a week or two I will do my level five updates if I have them. Before I do anything more then level 3 I do a image of my harddrive for backup just in case the new kernal, x, or whatever, really borks my system. Once everything is work...

Re: where is mkisofs?

palemoon wrote:mkisofs has been replaced by genisoimage. If you have an app looking for it (like mintconstructor) you can create a symbolic link for it.

Code: Select all

sudo ln -s /usr/bin/genisoimage /usr/bin/mkisofs

This fixed my problem. Thanks.

broken packages in Sid Repos

I have upgraded my LMDE to the sid repos about a month ago and everything was working fine. Then yesterday I noticed this error when I went to update: You have 2 broken packages on your system! Use the "Broken" filter to locate them. Once the installation was done this error also appeared:...

Re: LMDE's roots. Debian (from scratch) or Crunchbang?

You have to give them time. This was an experamental release and they will continue to work on it. This is by no means the final product. Alot of those things that just worked (i.e. wireless and proprietery video) was because of Ubuntu's work not Mints. Mint just made them a little more friendly. To...

How-to: take easy screenshots

I used to easily be able to take screenshots in the Ubuntu versions of mint by hitting Ctrl-Prt Scrn on my keyboard. This didn't work in LMDE though, but it's an easy fix. Open your menu to Preferences > keyboard shortcuts Click the add button at bottom Type Screenshot under name for command type: g...
