Once installed it does start.
But if you put it on a thumb drive you may want to enable it.
Well I did have some trouble installing which may explain the trouble. It is installed on the hard drive though.

Re: LM 10 KDE RC – First Impressions

Yeah I added "/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintUpdate/mintUpdate.py" to autostart. It works now.

Re: LM 10 KDE RC – First Impressions

Actually, I have no search option at all. Not even the Mint Google Search. I was concerned because I know it gives money to the project.

The update manager is also not starting at login as it usually does.

Re: LM 10 KDE RC – First Impressions

Nice to see the google chrome repositories there by default :D.

Boo, I also noticed there are no search engines set in the search box for Firefox.

Re: LM 10 KDE RC – First Impressions

Haha ... well the installation was a bit painful. The installer seemed to have some trouble formatting partitions on my hard drive. I'm not sure why. However, I had a similar problem with the main edition. What I ended up doing was formatting the ext4 and swap partitions using the partition editor. ...

Re: Question for Boo

Very interesting that you will be packaging KDE packages for LMDE. Maybe a minimal install CD would be a good idea once all the KDE packages are ready. During install the user could be asked which desktop they would like and it would install the packages for either the Gnome or KDE desktop.

Re: wireless not working

Not sure how new you are to all this. I'll assume nothing: 1) open synaptic package manager 2) Install network-manager-gnome 3) find "network-manager-KDE", unistall it 4) unistall "knm-runtime" if it is installed also. 5) Close synaptic 6) Go to autostart configuration (just type autostart in the KD...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

Why? I am running Mint 9 KDE with the latest kernel upgrade as well as KDE 4.5.3. I have had no problems whatsoever. When I updated Kubuntu it pretty much broke my system. I'm using an HP dv6000 series laptop. I'm not sure what happened. I would see the Kubuntu loading screen, which didn't look rig...

Re: wireless not working

My guess is you are using the KDE network manager? I use the gnome network manager because I found the KDE network manager wouldn't connect to some networks for me. You could give this a try. You will need to uninstall the KDE network manager or it will interfere with the gnome network manager. You ...

Re: Patch to speed up linux in KDE 10?

why not use ksplice http://www.ksplice.com/uptrack/download-ubuntu then it updates your kernel lets you know when a kernel update is available and it is free and you don't have to reboot to use it Thanks. Interesting program. I just installed it and updated the kernel. Really couldn't be easier. :)...

Re: Thunderbird doesn't check messages when launched

If you have your account organised into folders they might not update. I had to go to each folder, right click, and tell it to check the folder for new messages.

Patch to speed up linux in KDE 10?

I've been reading recently about a ~200 line patch that significantly speeds up linux: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux_2637_video&num=1 What I'm wondering is: how people feel about this being incorporated into linux mint KDE 10? It hasn't been released yet so it may be an op...

I see I'm not the only one. I just found the solution here: http://squidsrants.blogspot.com/2010/11/pidgin-msn-and-other-protocols.html Pidgin seems to be working for now. -Azrael **Edit: Maybe this is a different problem from mine actually. I just have the pidgin problem. Not sure whats going on wi...

suggestions for next edition of KDE

Since the blog entry looking for suggestions for linux mint KDE is closed, I'm posting this here. 1) One major problem with OpenOffice is that Spelling and Grammar tools are not installed by default. A friend of mine just stating out had major problems because of this. I suggest that these tools be ...

I've also been getting this message periodically. I'm not sure exactly why. It only happens every now and then during startup. I restart and it goes away.

Re: K-Patience

So you want it to show up in the newer KDE menu? You say it the program shows up in the classic menu. So you should be able to use the information presented in the classic menu to add K-patience manually to the newer KDE menu using the menu editor.

I does seem to take a while for this moderation thing to get resolved. I've been waiting 3 days now. Comments much longer than mine have been posted. I even made a smaller comment later and it wasn't posted. So whats the deal?
